How to 100 percent complete Super Mario Bros. Wonder

Posted on October 21, 2023 by in Guides, Switch

Today, we’re going over a detailed list of requirements in Super Mario Bros. Wonder for 100 percent completion. We won’t have any story or picture spoilers here, but we will briefly discuss the reward you receive for full completion – which some may view as being a little underwhelming.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder dropped just a few days ago, and many of its most dedicated players are already working on fully completing the game. Some of the later levels definitely get tough, but this actually isn’t as tall of an order as it sounds. If you complete every single level and collect all the goodies along the way, full 100 percent completion should take somewhere between 20 and 25 hours.

Here’s the full list of criteria you’ll have to unlock for full completion. It’s rather straightforward this time around: to sum it up, you just have to collect everything you see. There’s no particular reward for 100 percent completion in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, but you do get six medals on your save file! That’s gotta count for something, so here’s everything you have to do to obtain those medals:

  • Find each level’s purple 10-Coin. These big coins are worth 10 purple coins each, and just about every level has three of them to collect. When you reach World 5, you’ll receive a Sensor Badge that goes off anytime you’re near one of these collectibles. If you’re having trouble finding one, equip this badge and you should be good to go.
  • Collect every Wonder Seed. Most levels have two of them, but there are other ways to get Wonder Seeds. Mini-challenges usually have one, and each shop sells at least one Wonder Seed.
  • Collect every Standee. Normal shops sell random Standees for 10 purple coins each. The special world shop, however, lets you pick a specific category of Standee to purchase for 30 coins. This shop makes Standee collecting much easier, so we’d definitely recommend saving your coins.
  • Hit the very top of every single Flagpole. Fortunately, most stages make this easy. If you’re having trouble, you can equip the Parachute Cap badge to glide over or the Floating High Jump badge for some extra jump height.
  • Obtain every Badge. You can find these from Poplin shops and Badge Challenges. There are 24 badges to collect, and you obtain the last badge by finishing the final secret level.
  • Beat the game. Your last (and possibly the easiest) task is just to defeat the final boss. No spoilers here, so don’t worry.

And that’s everything there is to do. The game hits a nice 100 percent completion balance: you do need to put in some work to earn it, but it isn’t especially difficult. If you lose a life in a level, you can keep purple coins and Wonder Seeds you’ve obtained. Way to respect the player’s time!
