Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition

Update: All’s well that ends well. Bandai Namco US has confirmed that there will be no extra download, so both North America and Europe are safe.

Original: Earlier today, the Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition Anniversary Bundle was revealed. Yet there’s one thing in particular that is causing Switch fans to worry a bit.

On the Switch boxart featured in the Anniversary Bundle beauty shot, there’s a banner that looks very similar to warnings we see about an additional required download:

Bandai Namco has revealed a special “Anniversary Bundle” for Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition. The package includes the game, three acrylics keychains for Yuri, Patty, and Flynn, a Repede metal case, art book, and exclusive diorama display case stage.

The new bundle is up for pre-order exclusively on Bandai Namco’s website here for $99.99.

Bandai Namco is offering a neat pre-order bonus with pre-orders of Dragon Ball FighterZ on Switch. By reserving the game, you’ll receive access to Dragon Ball Z: Super Butoden, which originally appeared on Super Famicom.

There is just one thing you should be aware of. While in the past some pre-order bonuses have been offered to fans at a later date for purchase, it sounds like this won’t be happening with Super Butoden.

Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition

This week’s issue of Famitsu has one of the first Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition developer interviews. Producer Yosuke Tomizawa and Yoshito Higuchi, chief director of the original game, discussed the RPG.

The chat has some interesting discussion about how Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition came to be and the remaster itself. There’s also some talk about the possibility of other remasters/remakes and the next entry in the franchise.
