Kirby Air Riders

According to director Masahiro Sakurai, the team behind Kirby Air Riders will be disbanding soon.

At this point there largely isn’t a reason to keep everyone together. Development is finished, and as previously announced, the game isn’t getting DLC. However, we’re likely to get one more balance patch.

Kirby Air Riders 1.2.0 update

A big version 1.2.0 update has just been released for Kirby Air Riders.

A bunch of different elements are included in the update. Highlights include the ability to use amiibo in paddocks and play courses solo during matchmaking. Tons of balance adjustments and bug fixes are also in.

The full rundown is as follows:

November 19: Nintendo Switch Online has added in a new set of icons, which celebrates the release of Kirby Air Riders. They can be claimed on both Nintendo Switch 2 and Switch.

Like most sets, there are characters, backgrounds, and frames available. If you’re going for a character, each one costs 10 Platinum Points on My Nintendo. The others are 5 Platinum Points each.

Farm legendary machine parts Kirby Air Riders

We have a new Kirby Air Riders ready to go focusing on how you can farm Legendary Machine parts.

Anyone looking to 100 percent complete Kirby Air Riders is in for a challenge, because it’s got huge checklists for Air Ride, Top Ride, City Trial, Road Trip, and Online. You’ll need to complete them all in order to earn true 100 percent completion (plus a few other things), and thankfully many of the challenges you’ll need to clear are fairly self-explanatory. That being said, City Trial’s checklist is much more dependent on random luck and field events, meaning it’s probably going to be the one you finish last. Several of the tasks within require that you assemble Legendary Machines, of which there are four. Two of them are Dragoon and Hydra, while the other two are related to the story and are considered spoilers. We’ll be discussing them within, so keep that in mind before you continue.

Tetris 99 50th Maximus Cup Kirby Air Riders

It’s been a bit since the last event in Tetris 99, but a 50th Maximus Cup has now announced which will grant players a new Kirby Air Riders theme.

In order to partake, you’ll need to be a Nintendo Switch Online member. During the event period, you’ll have to obtain a total of 100 points. Once you do so, the Kirby Air Riders theme with background art, music, and Tetrimino designs based on the title will be unlocked. Note that you’ll earn more points the higher up you finish in each match.

Kirby Air Riders custom machines list

Kirby Air Riders is out now on Nintendo Switch 2, and it’s got the best vehicle customization out of any racing game Nintendo has ever published. One of the game’s key features is that you can connect to the Machine Market and use your in-game currency to buy custom designs for each machine. Unfortunately, all of the popular ones are really expensive – the more people buy them, the more expensive they become. So we scoured the new section for awesome-looking Air Ride machines that aren’t anywhere near as expensive as the more popular ones just yet. That also means we aren’t including any of those crazy Chef Kawasaki designs here. Sorry!

Kirby Air Riders review

System: Switch 2
Release date: November 20, 2025
Developer: Bandai Namco / Sora
Publisher: Nintendo

Kirby is a versatile little fellow – outside of his core 2D (and as of late, 3D) platforming adventures, Nintendo’s most rotund character has starred in a battle royale, puzzle games, fighters, and more. His big 2003 debut into the racing genre, Kirby Air Ride, now receives a sequel over twenty years later that feels more like an expanded remake at times, revisiting the original concept but expanding and improving upon it at seemingly every turn. It’s also wholly unlike most other racing games, and its diversity of game modes, breakneck pace and Super Smash Bros-esque flair make it feel more like a party game at times. While not all the pieces of Kirby Air Riders are equally compelling, and I’m not sure the game will have the staying power for me personally that I had hoped, I was certainly never bored while playing—and often, the adrenaline from the game’s more intense moments had me on the edge of my seat.

Kirby Air Riders frame rate resolution

Kirby Air Riders only just released on Nintendo Switch a few days ago, and Digital Foundry has now shared some details about the game from a technical perspective, including frame rate and resolution. A few other aspects are covered as well.

The full rundown is as follows:

Kirby Air Riders unlockable characters guide

Kirby Air Riders includes a total of 21 unique racers, and you only start with four of them at the beginning of the game: Kirby, King Dedede, Meta Knight, and regular old Waddle Dee. All of the missing characters are unlocked via tasks on the checklist, and you can actually press the + button to attempt uncleared challenges immediately. That’s super convenient! With that helpful tip in mind, here’s the easiest way to unlock each character in Kirby Air Riders. There are some Road Trip spoilers here, so keep that in mind before you continue.

Nintendo has uploaded a final launch trailer for Kirby Air Riders. More than twenty years after the GameCube original, the racing game has received a sequel from director Masahiro Sakurai.
