Sonic Frontiers quality review scores

Earlier this year, SEGA said that it delayed Sonic Frontiers internally in order to improve quality. The company apparently planned for it to be ready earlier, but wanted to have it launch in the best possible state.

Quality is something that SEGA again stressed while speaking about the game during a financial results Q&A recently. When asked if the company sets facts such as target scores of an outlet like Metacritic, the following was said:

As it turns out, SEGA internally delayed Sonic Frontiers in order to improve the game’s quality.

That nugget of information was revealed during an investor Q&A held last month. Speaking about the upcoming game, SEGA explained:

Sonic Frontiers voice cast

During a “Sonic Official” live stream earlier today, SEGA shared a tiny bit of extra information about Sonic Frontiers – including news regarding the game’s voice cast.

According to social media specialist Justin Thormann, the entire Sonic voice cast is returning for the upcoming Switch title. That means fans can expect to hear Roger Craig Smith as Sonic, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails (who will also be playing the same role in the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie), Cindy Robinson as Amy, and Mike Pollock as Dr. Eggman.

Sonic Frontiers Ian Flynn

Original (12/11): SEGA has shared more information about Sonic Frontiers – including confirmation that writer Ian Flynn is on board.

At The Game Awards 2021 this week, SEGA finally shared a proper unveiling for the game. It had been teased earlier in the year with practically no information. But a new video finally gave fans a first look as to what they can expect from the project.

Sonic Frontiers

At The Game Awards 2021 today, SEGA provided an update on the next mainline 3D Sonic the Hedgehog game – which now has a confirmed name of Sonic Frontiers. The title will launch for Switch in Holiday 2022.

Of the new project, SEGA teases: “An experience like never before, accelerate to new heights and experience the thrill of high velocity, open-zone freedom.” The action will take place in an area known as Starfall Islands, which features “dense forests, overflowing waterfalls, sizzling deserts and more”.
