Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 12 Comments
Update: Thanks to the Japanese update page, we can confirm what we all expected: improved stability. This should be the standard line when the English page has the patch notes: “Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience”.
Nintendo has made a new 3DS firmware update available. Across regions, version 10.4.0-29 is available for download.
We’re actually still waiting for patch notes on this one. However, given the version number change, it’s unlikely to have brought along significant functionality.

Update 2: And now the update is officially available!
Update: Nintendo has removed all mention of this update from its website… so I suppose it’s not available after all! Regardless, it should be out soon.
Nintendo has released a new firmware update for 3DS. Version 10.0.0-27 is out now in all territories.
Despite the change in numbers (from version 9 to 10), it doesn’t seem as though the update adds any major functionality. Of the new firmware, Nintendo simply states: “Further improvements to overall system stability, system security, and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.”
In order to access the eShop, you’ll need to download today’s update.

Update: All fixed – Nintendo working to correct issues downloading Wii U’s latest update
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 12 Comments
Update: Bumped to the top. Nintendo has shared an update on Twitter and confirmed that all problems have been resolved.
Nintendo took to its Japanese Twitter account a short while ago and commented on the Wii U’s latest update.
Earlier in the week, Wii U firmware version 5.4.0 was made available. We hadn’t heard of any issues, but Nintendo mentioned on its Twitter account that users may be encountering error 108-0065. Nintendo of America’s support site indicates that the problem may appear while downloading a system update, and it can occur if the update times out.
Nintendo is already on the case, and hopes to have the issues resolved soon. The company apologized for the inconvenience, and advises Wii U owners to simply wait until things have been fixed.
Interestingly, we haven’t heard about any problems in North America or Europe yet. Could these issues only be affecting Japan at present?

Latest Wii U update removes Nintendo TVii icon in Europe, other tidbits
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 4 Comments
Last night, Nintendo issued a new update for Wii U. The system’s firmware was brought up to version 5.4.0 in all regions.
Regarding the latest update, Nintendo said that it was intended to improve the user experience and stability as a whole. A few more details about what it actually does have since surfaced. In the end, the changes are pretty minor.
One change is specifically for European regions. The Nintendo TVii icon has been removed, which makes sense given that Nintendo announced a few months ago that it has no plans for the service.
The only other changes worth mentioning pertain to the Internet browser. The webkit has been updated, those who have Google set as their default search engine are redirected to this page, and users can post comments on the YouTube website.
Here’s a full listing of items that were modified in the new update:
00050010-10040100 Wii U Menu
00050010-10041100 “Version.bin” file with the current system version
00050010-10047100 System Settings
0005001B-10051000 ErrEula
0005001B-10059100 Wii U Electronic Manual
0005001b-10068000 some list with IDs and codenames for them
00050030-1001010A HOME Menu
00050030-1001210A Internet Browser
00050030-1001a10a AOC Overlay App
That’s about it!

Nintendo brought out a new system update for the 3DS last week. This week, Wii U is getting in on the fun. The latest firmware, version 5.4.0, is now available for download.
Sadly, there’s not much to report on in terms of any new features. This one seems to be all about improving stability/the user experience – just like the 3DS upgrade.
As always, you’ll need the latest firmware before you can enter the eShop.
