Varia Games

Varia Games’ ReVeN was originally funded on Kickstarter back in 2014. It’s been a long road since then, but the game still isn’t anywhere close to release.

Developer Austin Morgan provided an update on the project’s Kickstarter page this week. In it, he explains that ReVeN won’t be ready until sometime in 2017. This is in part because of time spent making the side-game XBridge (which was last thought to be coming to Wii U in Q1 2015).

The full Kickstarter update reads:

There isn’t much I can say that may reduce the flak we’ll receive at this point, or hateful comments. However I (Austin Morgan) feel it’s necessary to fess up to at least one thing here, and also explain where I’m coming from so you’ll all understand where we are and where we are headed.

The ReVeN Project is pending an undefined release date within 2017. I take full responsibility for starting the side project XBridge and dragging John into it which cost us a lot of time and energy, though it was certainly worth it to us for the skills gained (I can’t emphasize this part enough) and the economic potential of it’s full version release on steam. There are those who absolutely love XBridge and we have a certain fan base that emerged just from that game alone.

Varia Games has come out with a new trailer for ReVeN: XBridge. We’ve gone ahead and posted it below.

Varia Games has been working hard on ReVeN – a new 2D shooter/platformer for a few platforms including Wii U. The indie developer has also been creating XBridge. This was originally planned as a mini-game set in ReVeN’s universe as a means to hold fans over until the main game launched in 2016. However, it’s now being made into a standalone title.

XBridge will feature a number of elements like Conquest mode (join the I.S.T.O or E.G.R Faction and fight to destroy the enemy armada), arcade mode, and story mode. There’s also a level editor, 2-player co-op, and more.

XBridge is targeted for Q1 2015. Like ReVeN, it will be released on Wii U.

Indie project ReVeN has been successfully funded on Kickstarter. Varia Games managed to reach its $18,000 funding goal just a short while ago, meaning the team’s new game will make its way to Wii U sometime in the future.

If ReVeN raises $100,000 before February 22, Varia will hire a programmer so that the game can take full advantage of the Wii U GamePad and features in general. A second programmer will also be brought in so that the title can be polished further.

You can find ReVeN on Kickstarter here.

Varia Games could bring its Metroid-inspired indie title ReVeN to the 3DS.

The team told PureNintendo that it’s “looking into the 3DS” as a potential platform for the game.” “It would be amazing to implement our game’s mechanics to the touch screen and the 3D effects of the little handheld,” Varia said.

ReVeN is currently slated for the Wii U eShop. A Kickstarter for the project can be found here.

Varia Games has launched a Kickstarter for ReVeN. Those interested in the project can back the game here.

ReVeN is described as “a 2D shooter/platformer EVOLVED that will take you back to the good old days of classics like Metroid and Megaman while adding gameplay twists using our EDM system to add RPG elements that can be found in Crysis and Deus Ex.” Quite a bit to take in on that statement alone, though the video above should give you a better idea as to what the team has in store.

Varia Games hopes to raise $18,000 for ReVeN by February 22. The Kickstarter just went live yesterday, but has already raised $1,800.

Varia Games is working on a new sci-fi shooter/2D platformer game known as “ReVeN”. Metroid, Deus Ex, and Crysis are among the project’s influences.

ReVeN is slated for Wii U, PC, Mac, and Linux. You can find a whole bunch of details about the project here.
