Nintendo’s new console gets official name

Many “codenames” for Nintendo’s next console have been thrown around since its existence was leaked a few months ago. Project Cafe. Stream. Feel. These are just a few of the terms we heard about. So, what is the system actually named? It’s officially called Wii U.


Demos coming to 3DS eShop

Demos will soon be making their way to the 3DS. In the future, the eShop will host demos of both retail and downloadable titles.


Tekken 3D announced

A surprise announcement from a third-party has been made at Nintendo’s E3 2011 conference. In a video reel, Tekken 3D was shown. Because it was just a trailer, no information was shown. More details will be revealed after the event, most likely.


Star Fox 64 3D = September
Kid Icarus: Uprising = this year
Super Mario 3D = this year

Also worth mentioning, it appears that Kid Icarus: Uprising has a multiplayer component and Augmented Reality play.


Nintendo has dated Mario Kart 3DS… kind of. According to Reggie Fils-Aime, the title will be released this holiday season. A trailer shown featured new tidbits such as customization and underwater racing.


The GameCube launch title Luigi’s Mansion is getting a sequel. In a video reel of sorts, it was revealed that the sequel will be landing on the 3DS. No screenshots or information was shared, but stay tuned for more information!


Satoru Iwata has discussed preliminary details regarding Nintendo’s next home console. According to the president, it will provide “deeper” gameplay experiences and will offer a “wider” view to gamers, even moreso than Wii. More details will be revealed later today.


Nintendo isn’t done with the “Four Swords” portion of the Zelda franchise. Shigeru Miyamoto has announced that the title will be arriving on DSiWare later this year.

Regarding Skyward Sword, Miyamoto said that the title will be released this holidays. A gold Wii remote will be available as well.


The 3DS eShop launched last night with a few Virtual Console games. However, one significant titles was missing: The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX. However, Shigeru Miyamoto has revealed that the title will be available for download starting today.
