SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — Dec 12, 2009 — The Star Wars® Saga continues in 2010 with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, a sequel to the blockbuster videogame developed by LucasArts.

Released in 2008, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed remains the fastest-selling Star Wars game ever, with sales of nearly seven million units worldwide. The action game garnered numerous accolades including the WGA Award for outstanding achievement in writing for videogames.

Check out this blurb from a press release sent out today…

“TRON: Evolution is an action/adventure game being created for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC.”

When the trailer for Tron: Evolution was premiered during the Video Game Awards, I was almost positive that the title would at least be in development for the Wii. Usually, companies like to promote their movie by releasing numerous game tie-ins. As it turns out, however, it’s not coming to any Nintendo system according to this press release from Disney.

A little bit of this we’ve heard from Eiji Aonuma before, but some of his quotes are new…

“You may be under the impression that we are still only in the early stages of development – [but] in fact we are well into the making of the game… Our team has been working on making the building blocks regarding the action – the scenarios, dungeon-making and so on. We are well underway. I hope that we can show you something at the E3 show next year and it is something we are hopeful will be surprising. [The team has] already got a very solid response [from MotionPlus].

I actually didn’t know that Zelda Wii was fairly far in development. To me, it sounded like the team was messing around with a few ideas, concepts, and tech demos but didn’t have anything substantial when it came to the true game. But obviously I thought wrong!
