Sakamoto on whether or not Samus’ gender was fixed from the beginning…
“When we were almost done with the development of Metroid, one of our staffers casually suggested ‘Why don’t we make Samus Aran a female character to surprise the player?’ Back then I thought it was a nice idea, but I couldn’t foresee what a huge impact this would have on the future of the franchise. Up to this day, I’m thankful to the person that came up with this idea, although I honestly can’t recall who actually made the suggestion.”

HOCKEY SEASON STARTS TODAY! EA SPORTS NHL SLAPSHOT AND NHL 11 IN STORES NOW
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – September 7, 2010 – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) announced today that EA SPORTS™ NHL® SLAPSHOT and NHL® 11 are both available in North American stores today. Both games will be available worldwide September 9, 2010. EA SPORTS NHL 11 is available for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, while NHL SLAPSHOT is available exclusively for the Wii™.

“I’ve been pretty upfront that I have no interest at all in doing something that’s just a one shot. Certainly it has been conceived as something that could become a franchise because that’s all I’m interested in doing. Not because I want to build a brand and make a ton of money but because there are so many stories to tell. Whether that actually happens is way above my pay grade.”
“I wouldn’t even want to do that (make a similar game with Donald Duck as the star) as part of this Wasteland world we’ve created.”
We’ve heard Spector say that he’s really interested in working on more than one Epic Mickey title. I’m sure Disney won’t mind if the sales of the first game turn out to be pretty decent.

Tuesday 7th September/… 2K Sports announced today that Top Spin 4, the latest iteration of the Top Spin tennis simulation video game franchise, is scheduled to release in 2011 for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and WiiTM system from Nintendo. As the release date draws near, 2K will inform gamers about an exciting pre-order incentive; an exclusive vintage Andre Agassi playable character.

Slight change with our contest

At the moment, two site visitors have won a copy of Grease: The Game. And last Sunday, I said that the second part of the contest would be ending last night. But to make things easier though and speed up everything, I’m going to change things up just a bit. We’re now extending the second part of the contest to Wednesday, and eliminating the third part. Basically, the only thing you need to do still is post a comment on this page. We’ll then randomly choose four winners – two of whom will be able to choose either the Wii or DS versions.
