Unique Wi-Fi Gameplay Encourages Players to Explore Real World Surroundings to Collect Treasures

AUSTIN, TX – July 2, 2009 – Aspyr Media announced today that Treasure World has shipped to retailers across North America. The game, which encourages players to seek out Wi-Fi signals in order to unlock in-game treasures, is available on Nintendo DS™ for $29.99.

“With Treasure World, we’re offering players an entirely new level of interaction that crosses from the traditional game world into the real world,” said Ted Staloch, Executive Vice President, Aspyr Media. “With thousands of treasures to unlock and hundreds of player customization options, in addition to the real world treasure hunts, players are going to be able to spend months finding and doing everything the game has to offer.”

Wii Sports Resort, the first Wii MotionPlus-enabled title from Nintendo, only recently made its debut in Japan and will shortly be available worldwide in only a matter of weeks. However, it may not be the only game to be supporting the add-on from the company this year. According to Japanese website Gamememo, Nintendo will be publishing two more MotionPlus titles in 2009. The only questions are whether these titles have been announced or not and if the rumor only applies to Japan. Gamememo mentions Cosmic Walker as a candidate to be making use of the peripheral sometime this year, though Spam Smasher, which was announced secretly after E3 (and has been confirmed to use MotionPlus), is another possibility.

Capcom launched a mystery site a few days ago, which led to much speculation over which title the company was teasing. But finally, the game has been revealed. It’s actually not Onimusha as many were predicting. Rather, it’s Sengoku Basara 3. Capcom hosted a press conference just a few short hours ago and Famitsu has confirmed the news. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much discussion about actual gameplay details, but the game will launch next year. There were no announcements in terms of which platform Sengoku Basara 3 will hit either. For now, Capcom has released a few images of character art and a logo (see above).

Over the past few years, there has been a long running debate amongst Zelda fans. There are some who argue that the series needs to receive major changes, while others believe that Zelda games should pretty much follow the same formula. This is something which was brought up in an in interview in the latest edition of Nintendo Power. Shigeru Miyamoto addressed how different Zelda Wii will be compared to previous titles in the franchise. Miyamoto said, “I don’t think it’s going to be that radically different. So, it looks like some fans will have to wait until the next Zelda title releases before any big changes are made. We’ll be posting more tidbits from the interview over the coming days.
