No matter what you’ve got planned for Valentine’s Day, the latest additions to the Wii™ Shop Channel have what it takes to get your heart pounding. A new WiiWare™ game transports you to an eerie high school haunted by supernatural villains, while a classic Virtual Console™ title puts you in the heat of battle as a heroic mercenary. And remember: Just because these games are made for single-player action doesn’t mean you can’t share the excitement with your special someone.

Nintendo adds new and classic games to the Wii Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week’s new games are:

More alleged details of The Conduit’s multiplayer functionality have been revealed at this year’s New York Comic Con. Apparently, Eric Nofsinger of High Voltage stated that the game will have a lobby system. Thanks to the lobby system, friends will be able to hook up their Wii Speak accessories and talk with each other. At the same time, gamers can continue to search for a battle with random people, whether it is local or worldwide play.

Nofsinger also said that the game will have 18 weapons and hinted at about ten maps (though he did not confirm this completely).

Let’s give the invading demon horde full rein

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA – FEBRUARY 6, 2009 – Atlus U.S.A., Inc. today announced that Shin Megami Tensei®: Devil Survivor™ for Nintendo DS™, a new RPG/SRPG hybrid in the award-winning Shin Megami Tensei franchise, is coming to North America this summer. This may be the first Shin Megami Tensei epic to land on Nintendo DS, but no aspect of the experience-story, visuals, music, or gameplay-has been shrunk in the process. In fact, Devil Survivor invigorates the series with an unprecedented RPG/SRPG combat system and more character customization options than ever before, all wrapped within a compelling, branching narrative. For the first time in the series, players can use a new Demon Auction feature to collect and eventually fuse demons as they seek to create the most powerful party.

The government has quarantined Tokyo after a surprise demon invasion. No one within the isolation zone is safe. Can you and your peers turn the demons against themselves before time runs out and all is lost?

Devil Survivor invades retailers on June 23, 2009 with an MSRP of $29.99.

About SMT: Devil Survivor
Tokyo is in full lockdown, the government’s swift, coldblooded response to a surprise demon invasion. Trapped within the sprawling metropolis is the city’s helpless populace, forced to turn on each other in order to survive. A mysterious piece of technology, the COMP, falls into the hands of you and your peers. This device allows you to form contracts, forcing demons to serve you in battle against the otherworldly creatures. There are others with COMPs, so-called demon tamers, who seek to use the demons to satisfy their own whims-be they for justice, peace, or power-in the chaos that was once downtown Tokyo.

Where did the demons come from? Why did they appear? Who created the COMPs, and what is their purpose? These questions must soon be answered, for if you fail to solve the mystery, much more is at stake than your own lives.

Key Features
• Shin Megami Tensei goes portable – The absorbing story, addictive demon-fusing, and hardcore RPG battle that define the Shin Megami Tensei experience finally arrive on Nintendo’s popular dual screen handheld. Expressly designed for Nintendo DS, SMT makes a seamless transition with trademark gameplay features built into an intuitive presentation you can take anywhere!
• Collect and fuse demons like never before – Demon collection is updated for a new generation: competitive bidding determines the outcome! Place your winning bid through the easy-to-use menu interface to add new demons to your roster. Then, fuse them together to create new, more powerful creatures to aid you in battle.
• Hybrid SRPG/RPG combat system – A perfect synthesis of strategy and traditional RPG combat, you’ll need more than the usual battle strategy to come out on top. Deployed in teams of 2-3, you must choose the right combination of human and demons for each unit placed on the grid, then prepare to launch into first person turn-based battle in the tradition of the classic RPGs!
• Many possible conclusions – An epic story of mythological proportions lets you decide whether your loyalties lie with the angels, demons, or only yourself. Decisions made throughout the game will affect the course of the story, ultimately ending in a showdown where your choice of alliance will determine the survival of thousands.
Devil Survivor has not yet been rated by the ESRB.

– Game has been in development for over 14 months
– On quality of Wii titles – High Voltage CEO and Founder, Kerry Ganofsky: “Everyone’s aware that a lot of the Wii product that’s been moved over is an afterthought. There’s the front line PS3/360 and then there’s a Wii port if you will or as publishers like to call them, ‘port pluses’. What we set out to do is actually create technology from the ground up and create a product from the ground up that’s Wii specific. We took the opposite approach and I think everything you’re seeing here shows it.”
– HV has talented engineers, have “rung out every ounce of power that they can” and Ganofsky believes “there’s still room from improvement”
– The Conduit appeals to the hardcore demographic but controls make it accessible to average Wii owner
– On The Conduit going over to the 360/PS3 – Ganofsky: “I wouldn’t rule anything out. There’s definitely a market there. There’s been companies doing PS3/360 shooters several revs deep now. There’s a time and a place for everything. If Nintendo, Sega and High Voltage come to an understanding, I think The Conduit could become the Halo for the Wii.”

If there’s one thing that the developers of Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars have made clear, it is that the game’s Wi-Fi connectivity will be an important feature. Rockstar hasn’t revealed too much information regarding multiplayer, but today, the first confirmed details have come out thanks to a flyer from New York Comic Con.

The Nintendo Wi-Fi mode will allow gamers to participate in “head-to-head and co-op multiplayer mayhem” and Chinatown Wars also has “stat tracking and leaderboards that track your criminal career.” In terms of general gameplay information, there is an “all new replay feature” in which players can replay missions. Lastly, Rockstar states that the game will have an epic storyline, many side-missions, addictive mini games, and hidden collectibles.
