Metroid: Other M was a very unique collaboration for Nintendo. Never before had the company worked with an outside studio for a new entry in one of its major franchises.

Although the title saw a mixed reception, Team Ninja studio head Yosuke Hayashi does have interest in working on another Metroid project with Yoshio Sakamoto.

Hayashi said:

“Unfortunately Metroid is kind of out of our league as it’s Nintendo’s game, but we’re still in close touch with co-creator Sakamoto-san, so we want to do something with him moving forward definitely. It really depends on what he wants to do with the game first.”

Gamescom 2012 was a decent-sized meal for Wii U fans. We received some new assets from games such as Rayman Legends, but, as expected, third-parties didn’t make any new title announcements.

However, Official Nintendo Magazine editor-in-chief Chandra Nair told Nintendo fans on Twitter a couple of days ago that there is “good stuff” on the way. Given the fact that Nair referenced Ubisoft, it seems that his tease applies to the Wii U rather than the 3DS.

He wrote:

“Keep the faith nintendo fans. You won’t see much at gamescom other than ubi updates but the good stuff IS just around the corner …frustrating for me too but there is stuff coming soon.”
