Nintendo responds to September 2012 NPD data – 3DS software sales up 89%
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, DS, News | 0 comments
Nintendo has responded to the September 2012 NPD report, which should be out in full within the next hour.
Specific hardware sales weren’t outlined, by Nintendo confirmed that 3DS software sales are up 89 percent year-over-year. That’s partially due to the release of New Super Mario Bros. 2, which moved over 295,000 units last month. Mario Kart 7, Star Fox 64 3D, Kid Icarus: Uprising and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D saw improved sales as well.
Nintendo additionally confirmed that Super Mario 64 DS has now obtained five million sales in the US. New Super Mario Bros. and Mario Kart DS are the only other DS titles to reach this milestone.

UK Wii U TV campaign to kick off during X-Factor; will make it clear that Wii U is not a Wii attachment
Posted on 12 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
Just to be clear, that’s NEXT week’s ‘X-Factor’ on October 17th…
“We know there is a demand out there for a new console format, and this is a new generation of console. Maybe at E3 2011 we didn’t make that clear enough – it really is a new box as well as that innovative controller. It offers many different things. We’re making sure to communicate that angle in the marketing, and the campaign will seem fresh and slightly different. Although there are clear elements that say ‘this is from the people behind Wii’ to maintain some continuity.” – Nintendo UK marketing and PR director Shelly Pearce
Well, looks like we might be stuck watching the X-Factor if we’re looking to get a first glimpse of Wii U’s television advertising campaign! It’s coming a little late in my opinion, but I guess Nintendo figured that people would get annoyed/bored by a flurry of ads if they ran them for more than a month.
Still, was I the only one who really enjoyed seeing those Wii ads when they were around!?

New Super Mario Bros. U may not support 1080p after all
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
Nintendo opened the official teaser site for New Super Mario Bros. U yesterday. The page contained a tidbit stating that the game would run in 1080p. Unfortunately, it seems as though that may have been a mistake.
The site has since been updated with the following:
“Experience Mario like never before… in high definition, only on the Wii U console!”
If I were a guessing man, I would indeed say that the original message was an error. You’ll be able to see Mario in HD, but probably only in 720p.
