A sequel to Samurai Warriors: Chronicles is on the way. Appropriately titled “Samurai Warriors: Chronicles 2nd”, the game will contain multiple scenarios and endings, new generals, a new mode, and more.

Players can experience the branching scenarios in the main “Musou Enbu” mode. By looking at an included flow chart, users can plan a course to one of the game’s multiple endings.

Samurai Warriors: Chronicles 2nd’s “Moushou Enbu” mode offers missions with local multiplayer and online rankings. Additional details about this will be shared soon.

New generals shown in Famitsu include Takatora Toudou, Munenori Yagyu, and a mysterious female.

Japanese players won’t have to wait too long for Samurai Warriors: Chronicles 2nd. It releases on September 13.

The latest Famitsu review scores are as follows:

Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry’s Wonderland 3D (3DS) – 10/9/9/8
Guild 01 (3DS) – 9/8/8/9
BlazBlue: Continuum Shift Extend (PSP) – 8/8/8/8
Phi Brain: Kizuna no Puzzle (PSP) – 5/6/5/7

Level-5 is gearing up for the Japanese launch of Guild 01. The compilation, which features title contributions from such people as game developers Suda51 and Yasumi Matsuno, arrives in Japan on May 31.

But nevermind that. Level-5 already has plans for a sequel titled “Guild 02”. Famitsu leaker Sinobi states that ex-Capcom developer Keiji Inafune, Mini Kitchen’s Kazu Ayabe, and Otogiriso’s Kazuya Asano and Takemaru Abiko will be involved with the project.

A QA tester over at TT Games made a big mistake the other day. Unfortunately, this person leaked an image of the Wii U’s controller, showing differences in the model since it was last shown at E3 2011.

Studios who are working with the Wii U are required to sign NDAs in order to prevent potential leaks. Obviously that doesn’t automatically prevent items from making it out to the public though, as we saw with the Wii U controller image.

However, the broken NDA does come with serious consequences. Erlend Wollan, a system development consultant on various platforms/technologies, claims that the leaker was already fired and could end up in court.

Wollan wrote on Twitter:

“Dev at Traveller’s Tales who leaked updated WiiU controller (now with sticks!) already fired and may be taken to court. Respect NDA’s folks.”

I don’t doubt that the TT Games employee was fired. Even though the leak didn’t appear to be intentional – it was nothing more than a casual update on Twitter – there’s no way the company (or Nintendo) would let this egregious error slide by.

Thanks to Lars H for the tip.

… Here’s hoping the movie is better?

As you can see, the only upcoming Nintendo game from Take-Two is NBA 2K13, which is planned for Wii. Who knows – maybe the company has a few games they’ll be announcing for Wii U next month. Grand Theft Auto V would be sort of nice.

Shin’en hasn’t said anything about Jett Rocket: Super Surf since the game was announced. It’s now been made clear that it’ll contain platforming gameplay following the studio’s experimentation with different play styles.

In a new interview, Shin’en Multimedia Manfred Lizner said that the company realized “that a new Jett Rocket game needs to be a great plattformer in its essence.”

Screenshots will be released after the summer. As far as the actual game is concerned, it’ll be available on the eShop at the end of 2012.

“That game got through a lot of iterations but we took the time to make something really worthwhile. We experimented with different gameplay styles but in the end it was clear that a new Jett Rocket game needs to be a great plattformer in its essence. After the summer we should have some first screenshots to show you our efforts. We aim for a end of 2012 release for the game.”

This is amazing. For the third year in a row, a Professor Layton name has been trademarked in the US right before E3.

You know what that means! We’ll probably receive a Professor Layton localization announcement next month.

Level-5 filed a trademark for Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask just recently. Conveniently enough, that’s the next game in the series waiting to be brought stateside.
