Iwata: Nintendo not ditching buttons anytime soon

This information comes from Satoru Iwata…
“Whenever we make a new game console, we’ve done it without throwing away buttons and the directional pad. The reason for that it’s better to have them, because buttons and directional pads benefit gameplay response. Taking this into account, Nintendo isn’t planning on completely ditching buttons, nor is Nintendo thinking of taking tablets as they are today and implementing them in a game console.”
You can count on seeing a number of buttons on Project Cafe’s controller… 8, in fact, if rumors are to be believed.

Beautiful graphics, and a soothing soundtrack. Not a bad combination for a video game, don’t you think? Now all we need is some video footage…

Tales of the Abyss 3DS was just recently given a June 30 release date for Japan. Fortunately, North American gamers won’t have to wait too long to receive the game as well. Nintendo Power revealed in their latest issue that the port will arrive in the states sometime this fall. Namco Bandai might make all of this official very soon, as community manager Rich Bantegui teased something “really cool” for Tales fans next week.

Something tells me that this game won’t hold over hardcore Wii gamers for the summer… On the bright side, we’ll be getting Ocarina of Time 3D around the same time, but I admit that doesn’t help out those who haven’t purchased a 3DS.
