SANTA MONICA, Calif., Sept 07, 2010 /PRNewswire via COMTEX News Network/ — Marvel’s famous web-slinger is back in action and on store shelves in Spider-Man(TM): Shattered Dimensions from Activision Publishing, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI). Activision development studio Beenox has created a unique, immersive experience allowing fans to play as four distinct versions of Spider-Man in four unique worlds – Amazing, Noir, 2099 and Ultimate – in a race to save their universes against the villainous machinations of Mysterio, Carnage, Deadpool, Vulture, Kraven and more.

“The team at Beenox is giving fans an incredibly diverse Spider-Man(TM) video game experience,” said David Pokress, Head of Marketing for Licensed Properties, Activision Publishing, Inc. “Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions casts players in an epic action adventure where they battle in four different worlds, rife with classic villains re-interpreted within each world, offering a rich variety of gameplay and striking art styles in one unique storyline.”

This information comes from EA Sports Community Manager Alain Quinto…

“not on the Wii (online multiplayer). It will on XBOX 360 and PS3.”

Well, that’s a real shame. I know a lot of Wii owners will be disappointed, and I can’t blame them! EA did say that they were trying to support online in the Wii version, but it didn’t work out for whatever reason.

Sakamoto on whether or not Samus’ gender was fixed from the beginning…

“When we were almost done with the development of Metroid, one of our staffers casually suggested ‘Why don’t we make Samus Aran a female character to surprise the player?’ Back then I thought it was a nice idea, but I couldn’t foresee what a huge impact this would have on the future of the franchise. Up to this day, I’m thankful to the person that came up with this idea, although I honestly can’t recall who actually made the suggestion.”

HOCKEY SEASON STARTS TODAY! EA SPORTS NHL SLAPSHOT AND NHL 11 IN STORES NOW

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – September 7, 2010 – Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) announced today that EA SPORTS™ NHL® SLAPSHOT and NHL® 11 are both available in North American stores today. Both games will be available worldwide September 9, 2010. EA SPORTS NHL 11 is available for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, while NHL SLAPSHOT is available exclusively for the Wii™.

“We are extremely excited about our hockey offerings this year,” says Brent Nielsen, executive producer, EA SPORTS. “Our NHL product is consistently one of our strongest titles on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and this year with NHL SLAPSHOT, we feel we’ve created a hockey experience that is unlike anything that has come before it on the Wii.”

This information comes from Warren Spector…

“I’ve been pretty upfront that I have no interest at all in doing something that’s just a one shot. Certainly it has been conceived as something that could become a franchise because that’s all I’m interested in doing. Not because I want to build a brand and make a ton of money but because there are so many stories to tell. Whether that actually happens is way above my pay grade.”

“I wouldn’t even want to do that (make a similar game with Donald Duck as the star) as part of this Wasteland world we’ve created.”

We’ve heard Spector say that he’s really interested in working on more than one Epic Mickey title. I’m sure Disney won’t mind if the sales of the first game turn out to be pretty decent.

Normally with press releases that I see, I try to keep them in original form so you guys can read exactly what a developer or publisher wanted you to, but in this case I’m making an exception because it’s far more personable for me to type. For those that haven’t heard, Lost in Shadow developer Hudson is looking to give some money to charity, and they’re doing so based on the number of “Likes” their facebook page for the game gets.

Of course, this is where you guys come in.

^You guys^

All you have to do is “Like” their facebook page and they’ll donate 10 cents to “Child’s Play”, which is a community based charity that was actually started by some people at PAX. Go gaming! If you want to donate even more, change your profile picture to a shadow and they’ll up your donation to $1 instead of 10 cents!

Honestly, I’m a big advocate for charity and things, so please guys, just click that “Like” button! It’s easy, and it’s good to do. Thanks a bunch!

Here’s the link to their facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/lostinshadow

Tomorrow is the last day for the event, so be sure to do it right away!
