Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut is now official. Square Enix officially confirmed the game for Wii U today.

Director’s Cut is an exclusive to Wii U, Square Enix says. It’ll make use of the GamePad in a variety of different ways “including touch-screen hacking, interactive map editing, augmented sniping, grenade throwbacks and many other neural hub enhancements.” There is also “in-depth Miiverse integration” planned as well as “access to developer commentaries and in-game guides.”

Director’s Cut will also feature “overhauled boss fights, refined game balance and combat, improved AI, and striking visual improvements”. Human Revolution’s full Missing Link chapter and Tong’s Rescue mission have “been integrated seamlessly into the narrative flow of the Director’s Cut.”

Square Enix has not provided a release date for Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director’s Cut. A first look will be shown at PAX East this week.

Having problems finding LEGO City: Undercover? That could be because the game has been seeing shipping issues much like Fire Emblem: Awakening last month. Some retailers are counting on stock arriving later this week.

Of course, LEGO City is already out at some retailers and you should have a decent shot at finding the game. You could also opt to purchase the Wii U title through the eShop.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted U comes with the Ultimate Speed Pack, which was previously released on other platforms. But after the game launches in just a couple of days, future downloadable content is unlikely to arrive on the platform.

Take a look at the following Twitter exchange between a fan and Criterion’s Alex Ward:

Ward’s comment implies that Most Wanted U won’t be receiving any DLC going forward. That means fans won’t be able to get their hands on other packs including Terminal Velocity, Movie Legends and NFS Heroes on Wii U.

Looks like MegaMan… Smells like MegaMan… But it’s not MegaMan.

We have heard an almost obscene amount of Kickstarter gaming projects announce their support for Wii U if certain funding goals are met, but today we’ve got one for you from a developer that has recently been in the news:

Yacht Club Games was formed just recently by former members of the studio behind Mighty Switch Force!, WayForward Studios. Their first game will be called Shovel Knight, and it focuses on sidescrolling action, helmed by a knight who wields a “ShovelBlade” to destroy enemies. Sounds pretty decent, right? After all, we know these folks can make a mean platformer.

Initial news was that the game would be for PC only, but the game’s Kickstarter page says that if they hit their fundraising goal of $75,000, the game will make its way to 3DS and Wii U as well. Additionally, you can pledge $15 right now to “reserve” yourself a copy of the game on 3DS or Wii U when it comes out this coming September, so it’s almost like you’re just buying the game in advance!

Origin has a massive day-one discount for Need for Speed: Most Wanted U. The game is currently available for $30 plus tax. Sweetening the deal is free shipping.

We don’t often see such large sales for newly released items. I doubt we’ll see Most Wanted U drop in price quickly, so take advantage of the deal while you can.

People like putting copyrighted material onto the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad– that’s not terribly surprising on any given day. What’s surprising about the story we have today is that our perpetrators hid the copyrighted material inside of an app that helps you generate names for your baby called “Awesome Baby Names”.

The app has since been removed, but while it was up users could pay $1.99 for it, and if they knew the secret tapping combination the emulator would boot up and give you access to many of the GBA’s best games in ROM form. Reports are that it wasn’t a very good emulator, however, citing control issues and graphical glitches all around that made it not terribly fun to play.

The fact that Dead Island: Riptide isn’t heading to Wii U has nothing to do with the game’s engine.

Creative producer Alexander Toplansky suggested last week that the team would have required to build the engine for Nintendo’s platform for a port to happen. But as it turns out, Riptide’s omission on Wii U is not at all related to the project’s tech.

International brand manager Blazej Krakowiak has since clarified that Wii U can run the Chrome Engine “without any problem”, and it has been working on the console since last year.

“Chrome Engine runs on Wii U without any problem. We tested and confirmed that long time ago, back in 2012. While it’s true that Nintendo’s latest console would be a new platform for us, there were simply no plans to develop a Wii U version but that decision has nothing to do with a need to rewrite our engine.”

When pressed again, Krakowiak would only say that the decision is “up to Deep Silver to discuss if they so choose”.

Here’s a roundup of units sold and revenue stats:

Units

Wii – 125K
NDS – 110K
3DS – 90K

Capcom has revealed new details about the console version of Resident Evil: Revelations.

The company has first confirmed that Rachel will be playable in Raid Mode. Those attending PAX East will be able to take on the role of the character as well as Hulk at PAX East this week.

Also introduced are two new enemies: the Wall Blister along with “a surprise new creature that appears in Raid Mode once players have reached a certain level.”

On Wii U, gamers can access the game’s map and weapons directly on the GamePad while playing with a television. Users can also choose to play off-TV or with a Wii U Pro Controller.

And last but not least, Capcom has outlined how it plans to take advantage of Wii U’s Miiverse features:

“Wii U players will get further exclusives through the Miiverse feature. Players can post a dying message from the Game Over screen for other players around the world to see and you can taunt your friends with the ‘Creatures Voice’ function, allowing enemies in Raid Mode to have their thoughts personalised.”
