Teyon plans to release a new game on the 3DS eShop this winter: Ocean Runner.

As the name implies, this is your typical runner game… but in swimming form. You’ll be moving along a vertically-scrolling screen, and players can direct the fish through the 3DS’ accelerometer or touch screen.

Missions, achievements, and online leaderboards will be included. Additionally, players will be able to customize their fish’s appearance thanks to an in-game shop. The game’s story, which has the hero looking for his beloved, plays out in comic-esque scenes.

Ocean Runner is due out in December of this year or January 2014.

In a new blog post, Vblank Entertainment’s Brian Provinciano spoke about the decision to bring Retro City Rampage to the 3DS. He also shared details on the project and a few bits about what plans are in store for Nintendo’s handheld.

You can find all of that information below.

What came as a surprise to many though was that RCR for PS Vita was the most successful console version. Most players agree that it’s the best way to play RCR. It kind of makes sense, as I’d designed RCR with pick-up-and-play in mind — the right ingredient for a great handheld experience.

So, once enough time passed for my batteries to recharge just a bit, I decided the next logical step would be bringing RCR to the 3DS.

Working with Nintendo’s been a great experience (in a large part thanks to Dan Adelman), so I’m happy to continue supporting both the players, and Nintendo themselves.

– First version that has required significant dev work
– Other versions were basically pixel-for-pixel identical
– Went back to the drawing board
– Not a quick or poor port
– Has same content as other versions including the new Retro+ Enhanced Graphics mode
– Every mission has been tweaked/adjusted for the zoomed in camera
– Dev is still working on the best ways to use the bottom screen for both convenience and gameplay
– Touch screen will likely be reserved for selecting weapons, scrolling the minimap, or even using the screen for dual-stick style shooting
– Main game is 2D
– Would’ve taken too long to convert to 3D since graphics would need to be recreated, etc.
– Out this holiday

Nicalis officially announced The Binding of Isaac Rebirth for the PlayStation 4, PS Vita, and Steam yesterday. However, Nintendo platforms were noticeably absent even though that 3DS and Wii U seemed like realistic possibilities last year.

Despite this, the 3DS is at least still a potential platform for The Binding of Isaac Rebirth. Nicalis wrote on Twitter yesterday:
