3DS

Nicalis has given updates on a bunch of its projects. New details on Ikachan, Aban Hawkins and the 1,001 Spikes, and Yatagarasu have been posted below. There’s also information about a possible free update for Cave Story on the eShop.

Ikachan

– Will be out on DSiWare and the 3DS eShop simultaneously
– New enemies, areas, and more
– New aspect ratio for the eShop version
– Aiming for December release

Cave Story (eShop)

– Nicalis wants to bring the Holiday-themed update to the game
– Would include the Christmas themed re-skin from Cave Story+ on Steam
– Not confirmed to be happening
– If it’s possible, it’ll be available for free before Christmas

Aban Hawkins and the 1,001 Spikes

– 12+ playable character in multiplayer vs. mode
– Aban, his sister, father, Commander Video from Bit.Trip, characters from Tempura of the Dead, and many more will be playable
– New multiplayer mode: two players compete to climb a tower and “save a maiden”
– Releasing next year
– Delayed since Nicalis keeps adding content

Yatagarasu

– Making adjustments to the game
– Backgrounds are being altered to optimize them for a 3D display
– May have online multiplayer
– For this to happen, there needs to be minimal lag and without other performance issues
– Local multiplayer lobbies are also a possibility

XSEED was recently asked about the possibility of localizing Rune Factory IV. The company previously brought Rune Factory Frontier to North America.

Responding to the question on its Facebook page, XSEED wrote:

“Hmmm, we’ve had an itch to work on another Rune Factory game since we loved Frontier so much, so let’s see if we can’t grab a back scratcher somehow…”

If XSEED doesn’t release Rune Factory IV in the states, maybe Natsume can. Other than that, I’m not sure about any other companies that would get involved.

Medabots 7 was seemingly off to a slow start from a sales perspective. But in its latest fiscal results, Imagineer (which owns publisher Rocket Company), noted that they were pleased with its performance thus far. Imagineer feels that the game has managed to reach longtime fans as well as newcomers.

We don’t have an exact sales number on Medabots 7. Having said that, it should have sold over 100,000 units since launch.

Has anybody heard of Gilt? I may just be out of the loop, but I certainly haven’t!

In any case, Gilt members can now purchase a pink and white 3DS XL bundle. It comes with Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask or Style Savvy: Trendsetters. Both options are being sold for $219.99.

Gilt members can head on over to this link for further information.

European gamers will have to wait until next year to get their hands on a couple of Shin Megami Tensei games.

Publisher Ghostlight wrote on its blog that both titles will likely be pushed back to 2013. The company acknowledged the disappointment, but localization simply isn’t ready.

Ghostlight stated:

“…Finally I regret to regret to report that it is looking increasingly likely that both Devil Survivor: Overclocked and Devil Survivor 2 will not be released until 2013. This is incredibly disappointing as we were very much hoping to be able to release both titles this year, but sadly this has not been possible. It is worth noting that until we announce a release date, any dates you see for these games are unofficial and may be incorrect.”
