HMV has acknowledged the error it made in publishing incorrect promotional material for the 3DS XL.

The image featured a fan-made, photoshopped 3DS mockup with two Circle Pads. You can take a look at the photo here.

Only one store featured the image, HVM says. It has since been removed.

An HMV spokesperson stated:

“It’s apparent this was just one particular store being a little over-enthusiastic – and the poster has been removed. If it’s caused anyone any issues then we’re sorry, but I’d say it doesn’t take much to work out this doesn’t represent the company’s retail offer for this release.”

It’s currently unclear if Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney will be making it outside of Japan. But a few French retailers may point to a possible localization.

Cdiscount and Fnac both list a December time frame for the game’s launch. Amazon, on the other hand, says it’s “coming soon”.

Publisher Capcom nor developer Level-5 have not been able to confirm an overseas version of Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney. The game still has a long way to go before its Japanese release though, so it’s too soon to worry about a Western launch.

As it turns out, the collector’s edition for Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage?! isn’t a GameStop exclusive. It’s been confirmed that the special package will be available at most major retailers.

Along with that bit of news, GameStop has offered possible pricing for the collector’s edition. The standard version will cost $29.99 while the collector’s Edition will go for $39.99. Both versions will be available on both the 3DS and DS.

For information regarding the collector’s edition, check out this story.
