3DS

Tales of the Abyss wasn’t originally made for the 3DS. The game was first released for the PlayStation 2 in 2006.

Because Tales of the Abyss isn’t a completely new title built from the group up for Nintendo’s new handheld, the development team encountered the challenge of implementing 3D “effectively on a finished product’s port which is not made with data considering 3D depictions.”

Tales series producer Hideo Baba discussed this challenge in an interview with Siliconera:

“Our biggest challenge was using 3D effect effectively on a finished product’s port which is not made with data considering 3D depictions. In order to give a comfortable 3D experience, we had to adjust our 3D features one by one. How speech bubbles appear onscreen, how characters’ poses looked during events, etc, all had to be adjusted one by one. In the end, I believe we were able to present it comparable to the original version as much as possible.”

I can’t help but feel as though this game is pointless on the eShop. Tetris Party Live for DSiWare is a much better offering and contains more features. Plus, it’s only a dollar extra!

Nintendo of America’s Twitter account states that Bionic Command will arrive on the North American eShop next week.

The company tweeted:

“Do you have a Nintendo #3DS on your holiday wish list? On 12/29 D/L Bionic Commando in eShop.”

Although Bionic Command’s pricing hasn’t been confirmed, it will probably cost about $3.99.

Swapnote trailer

This game is well worth your money and time… Believe me!

For whatever reason, Swapnote wasn’t included in the Nintendo Download report for North America today. It is, however, up on the eShop. It can be downloaded free of charge, so you might as download it when you have a free moment!

Nintendo has added the Virtual Console version of The Legend of Zelda to the Japanese eShop for all 3DS owners. This means that those who aren’t part of the Ambassador program can purchase the title for 500 yen.

Additionally, the Ambassador version has received an update. The icon on the home menu has changed and it now supports save states.

This news currently applies to Japan only, but I’m sure Nintendo of America/Europe will follow up on this soon.
