It’s no secret that the 3DS had a rough start at retail. The system’s poor sales led to one of the fastest price drops we’ve seen for a Nintendo system in the company’s history.

That being said, president Satoru Iwata believes the 3DS’ newfound success and ability to outsell the DS isn’t a result of the $80 cut. After all, the 3DS still costs more than the DS did at launch.

This is just one element Iwata touched on in a meeting with investors at E3 2012 last week (and published today). He also talked about 3DS launch mistakes and how Nintendo will be “doing our utmost to avoid a situation where we have to cut the price of the Wii U hardware shortly after its launch”.

Go! Go! Kokopolo could be getting a sequel on the 3DS eShop. The game’s creator, Keith Webb, seems to have significant interest in making a followup.

Webb is currently gauging interest for a possible sequel. The new title would feature new bosses, levels, and more.

It also sounds like the game would be available for a lower price than its predecessor. Go! Go! Kokopolo can be purchased through DSiWare for 800 points ($8).

Shigeru Miyamoto has shared new tidbits about Pikmin 3, including some interesting development revelations.

Before Pikmin 3 became a concrete idea, Nintendo tried out some experiments on the 3DS and DS. The game was then planned for Wii, but once Wii U rolled on in, Pikmin 3 was moved over to the new console.

Miyamoto has also explained the lack of online play for the title. He told IGN that “it would be very difficult to sync up” all of the Pikmin’s locations and movements, so it will support local multiplayer only.
