Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered review

System: Switch
Release date: December 10, 2024
Developer: Crystal Dynamics
Publisher: Aspyr

One of many series that I have mourned the loss of over the last two decades is Legacy of Kain. After the disastrous Nosgoth spinoff was cancelled and the IP was passed back and forth over the years with various acquisitions, it seemed to be a series that would be eventually forgotten about. The Soul Reaver duology received widespread critical acclaim at the time of their release, and even though this was 25 years ago, their resurrection on the Nintendo Switch as Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered shows that time has done little to dull what made them such noteworthy titles when they were first released.

Leif's Adventure Netherworld Hero gameplay

A new wave of gameplay is in for Leif’s Adventure: Netherworld Hero. After it was announced in 2017, the title finally landed on Nintendo Switch this week.

A bunch of information about it can be found in the following rundown:

ReSetna

Today’s Games will publish ReSetna on Nintendo Switch next month, the developer has confirmed. A release is scheduled for January 31, 2025.

ReSetna is a Metroidvania game that’s been in development for close to two years – and there’s apparently been over 90,000 hours of work poured into programming, design, audio and testing. The action adventure title revolves around a combat-ready robot awakened by APEX AI to stop the spread of the rogue Signal, a mysterious digital frequency wreaking havoc on robotic units.

Here’s some additional information about what to expect:

Tetris Forever is rolling out an update on Nintendo Switch today, and it’s a pretty big one as it includes Welltris as a new playable game and player-requested features.

Welltris (Spectrum Holobyte, MS-DOS) was the first follow-up to Tetris created by Alexey Pajitnov. According to Digital Eclipse, it’s “a beloved variant in which Tetriminos (and other shapes) fall down four sides of a well.”

DoDonPachi Saidaioujou

December 4: Live Wire is set to publish DoDonPachi Saidaioujou on Nintendo Switch, the company revealed today. Only a release is confirmed for Japan, where it will launch on December 19, 2024.

DoDonPachi True Death, a bullet hell shoot ’em up game, originally came to the arcades as DoDonPachi SaiDaiOuJou in 2012 with a worldwide debut happening in 2020. An Xbox 360 version was also made available in 2013.
