To celebrate the Year of Luigi, Nintendo has launched a trio of new communities on Miiverse. Wii U owners can partake in discussions through the official Year of Luigi community and Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon board – the first 3DS title to receive its own community. There’s also a community up for the Year of Luigi developer’s room.
Shigeru Miyamoto, Takashi Tezuka, and Yoshihito Ikebata all left messages on Miiverse. Below are Miyamoto’s remarks:
“It’s been a whole 30 years since Luigi’s debut in Mario Bros.! Thanks to Luigi’s fans within Nintendo and all over the world, we have created many games starring Luigi. I hereby declare 2013 to be the Year of Luigi!”

On Wii U, gamers can access the game’s map and weapons directly on the GamePad while playing with a television. Users can also choose to play off-TV or with a Wii U Pro Controller.
And last but not least, Capcom has outlined how it plans to take advantage of Wii U’s Miiverse features:

Ashes Cricket heading to Wii U this summer
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
Ashes Cricket is coming to Wii U in just a few months, as well as the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. 505 will publish the game this summer.
Fans of the sport can expect the following from Ashes Cricket:
Whether playing on X360, PS3, Wii U or PC, dynamic game play adds variety to each match. Players will have to adapt to varying and altering pitches; whether it’s a green seaming wicket or deteriorating fifth day pitch susceptible to spin and bounce. Weather forecasts will also change, altering the course of the match; overcast conditions will be more conducive to swing, while sunny days are a batsman’s paradise.
ASHES CRICKET 2013 includes a brand new game engine creating a truly authentic gaming experience. Batsmen have 360 degree control over shot placement, requiring impeccable placement and timing to build an innings. A new line and length bowling system gives bowlers the tools to set plans for batsmen throughout a day’s play and players have complete freedom to set a field of their choice. For those who prefer to be led however, there are options for intelligent automatic field placement.
Connoisseurs of the game will be able to play the complete 2013 Investec Ashes Series, with official England and Australia teams, however those more interested in the short form of the game can take on the rest of the world in limited overs tournaments and leagues.

Project Cars dev: Wii U GamePad “just screams new innovations for gameplay”
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Podcast Stories, Wii U | 0 comments
Project Cars developer Slightly Mad Studios is a big fan of the Wii U GamePad. The team believes that the new controller “just screams new innovations for gameplay”.
For Project Cars, Slightly Mad Studios intends to put the GamePad to good use, and it sounds like there could be plans in store for Miiverse as well.
Speaking with NowGamer, Slightly Mad Studios creative director Andy Tudor said:
“The gamepad just screams new innovations for gameplay and is a perfect match when thinking about using the gyroscope as a handheld wheel like in Mario Kart Wii and showing data on the screen such as a map, telemetry, speedo, or rear view mirror. When you couple that with Miiverse functionality and community it’s a no-brainer.”
When it comes to all four versions of Project Cars, Tudor feels that they’re all equal since each can bring something different to the experience:
“Honestly, each has their own advantages: the PC will always benefit from the most bleeding edge processors and graphics cards but the Wii U has brand-new ways of interacting via the Gamepad, and the PS3/Xbox 360 versions continue to push those machines to their very limits whilst hooking in to already-popular systems like PSN and Xbox Live. So no one single platform wins I’m afraid!”
