Wii U selling 1.2 games per console

According to Longbow Research’s James Hardiman, the Wii U has been achieving an attach rate of 1.2 games sold per system. That tidbit is based on NPD data gathered in the US last month. The Wii saw a rate of two titles sold for every console when it launched in 2006.
So why have buyers been purchasing fewer Wii U games compared to Wii? Hardiman believes that consumers may not be inclined to pick up another game due to Nintendo Land’s inclusion in the Deluxe set, or the price tag of the Wii U is dissuading them from spending extra cash on releases.

BioWare teases more Mass Effect Wii U plans, hints at Trilogy release

Mass Effect 3: Special Edition has pretty much been a disaster the whole way around. Wii U owners, first of all, are starting off with the third game in the franchise rather than the first.
That wouldn’t be so terrible if EA hadn’t announced – and already released – the Mass Effect Trilogy on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The package contains all three entries in the series. We’ve since heard that DLC such as Omega won’t be coming to the Wii U at this time.
Despite all of the negative news, there could be a bit of hope regarding Mass Effect’s future on Nintendo’s home console. In an interview with GamerSyndone, the company teased that it does have “plans” for Wii U, “but nothing to announce at this moment.” It also hinted that the Mass Effect Trilogy could head to Wii U, reiterating: “Never Say Never”.

“LOVEFiLM” app now available on Wii U (UK)

The UK-based Netflix-style streaming application “LOVEFiLM” is now available for download on Wii U for those of you who live in the wonderful land of Europe! You do need to have a paid account to actually access any of the content, but without one you’re still able to browse through all of the movies and shows to salivate over what you’re missing, and then convince yourself to buy a subscription.
Or, hey, you could always get one of those “free trial” things. That’s a great way to try something for free!
Nintendo is already planning for the future of Wii U, and won’t let titles dry up

Lots of new titles like Monster Hunter, but also repromotions and things like that. “Nintendo always makes sure it launches games throughout the year. We don’t really focus particularly on Christmas. We’ve got a strong line-up all the way through the year. The more I think about it, the more amazed I am at how many amazing new Wii U games we’ll be getting over the coming months. The Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 2, Wii Fit U… the list just goes on! And that’s not even talking about what’s coming next holiday! My guess is the next Smash Bros.…

Mutant Mudds Deluxe will have checkpoints

In the iOS version of Mutant Mudds, the game supports a checkpoint system. Its implementation allows players to return to specific areas of a level should they die. Various checkpoints are sprinkled throughout the levels in the form of large signs.
Fortunately, Renegade Kid co-founder has confirmed that checkpoints will be added to Mutant Mudds Deluxe. But if players wish, the feature can be turned off.
RUMOR: Wii U eShop (Europe) won’t let you buy adult-oriented content before 11PM

A user on neogaf appears to have figured out why people were having purchasing issues with Assassin’s Creed III and ZombiU on the Wii U eShop the other day: Nintendo of Europe may be (and probably is– it’s just marked as a rumor as a formality) restricting the times you’re allowed to download or view games that are meant for older audiences, in this case the two aforementioned games.
The user in question is from Italy, and the story we published a few days ago applied to the greater European area, so it’s pretty safe to say that this is just Nintendo being overly-protective in certain respects!
