Wii U to Wii transfer is a one-way process
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii, Wii U | 0 comments
You better pay close attention when transferring content over from the Wii to Wii U. That’s because the process is a one-way process. Once content is sent over to the Wii U, it can’t ever go back to Wii.
Various Wii U details: SD cards, Wii mode, more
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii, Wii U | 0 comments
There is more information about a few Wii U topics below. The roundup covers SD cards, how the console can be turned on, the mode used to access Wii content, and the lack of print material included with the console.
SD cards
– Up to 2GB SD cards supported
– Up to 32GB SDHC cards supported
– Won’t support SDXC or “UHS-type” cards
– Need an adapter for a Micro or Mini SD card
– Larger SDHC cards may work
Turning on the system
– Can turn on the Wii U without turning on the TV
– Press the power button on the GamePad to enable the system
– Then access content without the TV on
– TV Remote integration will let you then turn on the TV through the Pad itself
– Can access the GamePad and turn on your Wii U through the controller’s touch screen
– There’s a button within the remote interface that says “Play Wii U”
– Touch this to turn the system on
– Can also press the power button on the system itself
The Wii application
– System goes into a mode dedicated to running Wii software
– Need to access the Wii application from the Wii U interface
– Will need to use the Wiimote to navigate
– WiiConnect24 doesn’t work
Manuals
– Wii U doesn’t have a huge manual
– Does come with some printed instructions
– Most “how to” info is stored in a digital manual on the console itself
– Can access this through the home screen
Capcom’s rights with Tatsunoko have expired
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News, Wii | 0 comments
Don’t count on a new Tatsunoko vs. Capcom game anytime soon. Capcom’s Christian Svensson says that the company’s “rights with Tatsunoko have lapsed fairly recently”, meaning there wouldn’t be another title unless a new deal was decided upon.
The news also affects the original Wii game. Because the deal expired, Capcom is “no longer allowed to sell the title physically or digitally”.
Svensson wrote on the Capcom-Unity boards:
“Our rights with Tatsunoko have lapsed fairly recently (so we’re no longer allowed to sell the title physically or digitally). Unless Japan were to strike a new deal, I’d say the chances of this happening are slim.”

How the Wii/Wii U transfer process works
Posted on 12 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii, Wii U | 3 Comments
The Wii to Wii U transfer process will be ready to go on day-one.
Here’s how the process works:
– Like the DS/3DS transfer
– Insert an SD card into the Wii U to initiate the process
– Use the Wii System Transfer app
– Once the process has been started, insert the same SD card into the Wii and download another transfer app from the Wii Shop Channel
– This app moves data over to the card
– Then need to put the card back into the Wii U
– Wii data will then be moved to the console and deleted from the card
You’ll be able to bring over the following content from the Wii:
– Wii Software save data
– WiiWare and save data
– Virtual Console titles and save data
– Add-on content
– Wii Points
– Wii Shop Channel activity
– Mii characters
Wii and Wii U use the same RCA cables?
Posted on 12 years ago by Austin(@NE_Austin) in News, Wii, Wii U | 0 comments
I do not own an HDTV. I know, I’m behind on the times and all that, but I haven’t seen a need to get one just yet! One thing that concerned me though was that Wii U only came with an HDMI cable, which I (for obvious reasons) had no use for. My fears can be put to rest it seems, because while watching IGN’s Wii U un-boxing video I noticed that the back of the console appears to use the same RCA output jack as the Wii. Take a look:
You may also note that the power jacks look very similar as well, but further inspection reveals that they are actually flipped from each other, meaning (understandably) one could not swap their power cables between the two consoles. The sensor bar input jack is– predictably– also the same as well.
