– Donkey Kong can climb grassy textured surfaces
– Do this by holding B on the Wiimote
– DK can go vertical, climb across rock surfaces like monkey bars
– Sunset Shores level demoed
– This level features the “silhouette” visual effect seen in the E3 trailer
– Hidden goodies in the level, discover them by paying attention to the background
– Sunset Shores has staggered rock formations moving in perspective, at one point they converge to make a giant banana, if you notice it and stop you’ll receive banana coins
– Use banana coins on extras outside of the level
– Can also get coins when there is a sunset with a foreground cavern
– Another level: Stormy Shore
– Need to leap across platforms in the ocean, waves moving about
– Crazy Cart mine cart level
– Jumping will pull the cart up with you
– Cart can leap off its rails and skid along dirt paths before going back on track
– Somewhat of a dynamic camera in this level, DK cart will roll close to the camera for a tight shot (makes thing more challenging since your viewpoint isn’t as large)
– Another level: Button Bash
– This level has a big network of barrels to blast out of
– Need to time some barrel blasts to hit big button switches that affects the level
– At the end you’ll blast into the mouth of a gigantic monkey totem poll in the distance
– Need to time this blast when his mouth is open
– Another level: Damp Dungeon
– Need to navigate platforms rotating on giant water-powered mills
– Raise platforms by using DK’s blowing ability
– Push down on the analog stick and shake the Wiimote to accomplish this
– Blow to power the windmill which will bring a platform up
– Another level: Temple Topple
– Hop on the back of Rambi and rampage through the level
– Rambi can go through practically anything
– He can smash through walls, romp over spikes that would bring down DK if he got too close
– Only fire can hurt Rambi
– Fire hoops all over the level
– Leap through the fire hoops
– Bonus bananas, KONG letters, puzzle pieces, 1-up red balloons in the fire hoops
– 3D island for the game’s overworld
– Players can explore the overworld
– Each segment on the island is an open world with its own collection of levels
– Most paths from one level to the other were open in the demo
– There was one locked path that has a chain and padlock over the road
– Most likely secrets to unlock paths between levels
– Music similar to the SNES game
– Has an updated, upbeat jazzy flair
– Aquatic Ambiance not in the latest demo, but it could still be in the game

Just sayin’…

“This is a similar title to Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, but the similarity comes from the concept – keeping the tempo very fluid. A similar concept applies here. Is it the best since then? We always strive to make the best Sonic game yet. It’s at least on a par with Sonic Adventure Battle 2, and I’m confident it is one of the best Sonic games ever.” – Sonic Colors’ Producer Takashi Iizuka

Hmm… I admit that Sonic Colors looks like it has a lot of promise, but I don’t know that I’d go so far as to say it could be one of the best Sonic games ever. I mean, you’re looking at going against classics like Sonic 2 and Sonic 3; those games aren’t easy to live up to!

On the other hand, he also said Sonic Adventure 2 Battle was a very fluid game, so we know how much he knows!

I kid, I kid…
