Switch 2

May 20: With rising concerns about the increasing cost of video games, some players are wondering if future titles will start launching at $80, a price point that’s becoming more common in the current generation. In light of this, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford shared some thoughts on the topic via X (formerly Twitter), especially in relation to Borderlands 4, which has been confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2.

When asked by a fan whether Borderlands 4 would be priced at $80, Pitchford responded by saying, “If you’re a real fan, you’ll find a way to make it happen.” He added that the final price point is ultimately not his decision, and that it’s likely up to publisher Take-Two Interactive.

1080p Nintendo Switch games Switch 2

A new list is available outlining Nintendo Switch games that automatically run at 1080p on Switch 2 in handheld mode.

With the previous system, titles would always try to hit the native 720p resolution for portable play when possible. When you run them on Nintendo Switch 2, that’s usually the resolution you’ll get. However, a few actually go beyond the limit, and will run at 1080p automatically – in other words, you don’t need to download any patches.

Mario Kart World Totaka's Song

Totaka’s Song, which has been an Easter egg in Nintendo games going back decades, has been found in Mario Kart World.

The Easter egg originally snuck in by Nintendo sound designer Kazumi Totaka. The melody first appeared in the Game Boy game melody way back in 1990, but has since appeared in more recent titles like Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer (plus other entries in the series) and Mario Kart 8. Now it’s here in Mario Kart World as well.

After another long standoff between Nintendo and Amazon, the two sides are finally working together once again.

For whatever reason, over the past year or so, it has been impossible to purchase anything sold directly by Nintendo – at least if you’re in the United States. That means the Nintendo Switch 2 console itself, recently-released and upcoming titles like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, and even new amiibo were unavailable on Amazon. Neither side commented on the situation, leaving fans to wonder why they could purchase or pre-order many of Nintendo’s products.
