Wii U

It looks like tonight’s Nintendo Direct mini was created for one primary reason. Satoru Iwata hosted a live presentation to announce and show off a new Nico Nico app for Japanese Wii U systems.

The app will work on any television once connected to the service. Wii U owners can search for videos on the GamePad and then watch the content on the TV – and yes, HD is supported. Rankings are supported, as are a favorites list and playlists.

Japan will be receiving the Nico Nico app on December 8, when the Wii U launches in Japan. It will be available as a free download.

Dragon Quest X players on Wii U won’t have to get involved with any storage setups. The game will make use of cloud saves, which means that users won’t have to fumble around with hard drives or alternative USB storage. This news will likely come as a relief to 8GB Wii U owners, as they’ll never have to be concerned about not having their progress around at all times.

I personally don’t have a European Wii U on hand, so I can’t verify this completely. But Nintendo has said that Netflix should be live on all European consoles today.

If this is untrue, please let us know!

ZombiU and Assassin’s Creed III are both experiencing issues on the European eShop. The games’ 18-rated classification could very well be the culprit.

When attempting to purchase either title, a message displays:

You cannot view this content.

The times during which this content can be viewed have been restricted.

There’s no word yet as to when the issue with be addressed. Soon, hopefully.

I never thought we’d see the day when Satoru Shibata was singing for a Nintendo Direct!
