Heroes of Hyrule

Did You Know Gaming? has secured information about another Zelda spin-off that Metroid Prime developer Retro Studios pitched to Nintendo, which was known as Heroes of Hyrule.

The game would have a story involving three heroes that lived 100 years in the past: a Goron, a Rito, and a Zora. The trio actually went on a mission to save Link. Link himself was actually captured while trying to rescue Princess Zelda from Ganon. That’s where the three heroes come in. Eventually 100 years pass, and Link becomes an old man that owns an antiquities shop.

This wasn’t the only Zelda-related spin-off that Retro Studios pitched. The company was also at one point working on a prototype involving the last male Sheikah as well as Sheik from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Shortly after a bunch of art emerged online, a former Retro Studios staffer confirmed that it was something the company was working on for a brief time.

Did You Know Gaming? covered the project a bit further in a new video posted today. The end also includes the reveal of Heroes of Hyrule, and we’ll apparently be hearing more about this pitch soon as well.
