– It will be a week long conference (press won’t be at the event for the whole week)
– Will be at the NOA headquarters
– Important executives to attend
This is interesting, isn’t it? A rumor about a rumor! In any case, you should, of course, keep the hype meter low until we receive a confirmation that the conference is actually happening. Hopefully we’ll receive some concrete news soon.

Electronic Arts Inc. (ERTS 17.15, +0.97, +5.10%) today announced preliminary financial results for its first fiscal quarter ended June 30, 2010.
“We had a solid first quarter, exceeding expectations both top and bottom line,” said John Riccitiello, Chief Executive Officer. “Top quality titles like 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa, innovative digital offerings for titles like Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Scrabble on the Apple iPad are driving the business.”
Similar to last year, Nintendo will not be holding a press conference at Gamescon. However, the company will not be completely absent from the trade fair. Nintendo has once again opted to feature a number of titles at the event in booth form. It has yet to be revealed which games will be on display, although one likely candidate is Metroid: Other M.
The image above features a photo from Adam Malkovich’s desk. No one seems to be certain about this man’s identity at this point. Just so you guys know, the image shows up during a cutscene following the fight with the giant purple monster.

“I am afraid to say that the history of entertainment is also the history of imitation. A great idea will promptly be copied unless protected through patents. At the same time, it is really important for our business to positively surprise people. Will you be surprised by our completed product if we told you how it is surprising three years in advance? Therefore, we basically disclose information on our products as late as possible. We believe this is the best approach for the entertainment products we are developing. Again, we are planning the next products for Nintendo’s continuous growth, but we cannot tell you what, when and how we will release it here. Thank you for your understanding.” – Nintendo Co. Ltd. President Satoru Iwata
It makes sense that Nintendo wants to keep their hardware a secret for as long as possible, as it prevents other companies from entirely copying their products. Of course, it ends up happening eventually (Kinect and Move, for instance), but for the most part competitors have a hard time latching onto what someone would announce when it comes so close to the device’s launch.
This information comes from Eiji Aonuma…
“Basically what leads Link on this adventure is the Skyward Sword. When that sword is actively guiding Link it actually transforms into a feminine figure. I wouldn’t say that it’s female per se but it’s a feminine figure. It would be kind of nice to keep this a mystery, but I can tell you right now that it is not Zelda.”
I never got the impression that the Skyward Sword was Zelda, but it’s nice to have an official confirmation. But now I’m curious to know who the sword really is! What do you guys think?
