Ubisoft says Rabbids Go Home

Raving Rabbids Break Out with First Standalone Title

LONDON, UK – April 14, 2009 – Today Ubisoft announced that the Rabbids will receive their own standalone brand with the release for Holiday 2009 of the comedy-adventure Rabbids Go Home. Developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, the team behind Beyond Good & Evil®, Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie and the original Rayman Raving Rabbids®, the game will benefit from a new engine designed specifically for the Wii™ home video game system from Nintendo, offering the Rabbids a hilarious adventure in a brand new universe.

The Rabbids are already beloved the world over, selling 6.5 million copies of their raving adventures and starring in their own series of videos that have kept web surfers laughing for years. Moving up to star billing in their own brand of games was a logical next step and fans will now be able to enjoy the fun in this humorous adventure game where the Rabbids unleash their insanity onto the human world as they attempt to return to their Rabbid home.

With the recent release of the Nintendo DSi™, Subsonic is intending to allow its users to really benefit from the new multimedia abilities offered by the new portable Nintendo console.

So, the SCREEN PROTECTION & CLEANING KIT offers 2 screen protections for the DSi™ with a microfiber wipe and applicator for simple and efficient use, a mini screen cleaner with elastic strap for attaching it to the console, and an indispensable new release for the DSi™ – a protective lens for the console’s exterior camera.

Gamasutra sources say that a game must reach a certain amount of sales before developers can receive pay (“a minimum sales threshold”).

– Per-territory basis
– Mid-four figure range for North America
– Lower-four figure range for European territories
– No pay until a title reaches specified numbers
– Developers have allegedly confirmed the news
– A small independent studio doesn’t believe they will ever reach the sales needed to receive pay
– Nintendo’s response: “Due to the nature of the story, Nintendo is putting forth this response: ‘We do not discuss our internal business dealings.'”

Consider this a rumor for now as there is no real confirmation at this point, but this news does seem likely.

A rumor popped up a few weeks ago that Nintendo’s upcoming Wii MotionPlus peripheral would come with a forced glove. Unlike the Wii controller itself, MotionPlus would ship with a tacked on sleeve and owners would be unable to remove it.

The Nintendo of Europe press release highlights images of Wii MotionPlus and, as you can see below, it looks as though the add-on will unfortunately arrive with the forced protection.

April 14, 2009 – Nintendo is set for a blockbuster summer with the announcement of two anticipated product releases. The new Wii MotionPlus™ accessory will hit European retailers on June 12th, taking the motion-sensing controls of the popular Wii™ system to new levels of precision and performance. What’s more, these control enhancements will be on vibrant display when the Wii Sports Resort™ game launches on July 24th, offering a beach-themed follow-up to the popular Wii Sports™ game. Wii Sports comes packed with the Wii console and continues to attract new players of all generations and ages to the world of video games. Each Wii Sports Resort game comes packed with a single Wii MotionPlus accessory.

When used with specially designed games*, Wii MotionPlus tracks players’ movements in finer detail and with greater accuracy than ever before, building upon the innovative wireless function of the motion-sensing Wii Remote™ controller. Even the slightest twist of the wrist or turn of the body is replicated exactly on the TV screen, allowing users to become even more immersed in Wii gameplay. Wii MotionPlus is designed for easy attachment to the Wii Remote controller.

These details come from the latest Game Informer…

– Main focus of the game is retelling events from Resident Evil 2/Code Veronica
– Will have a chance to take part in new elements starring Leon Kennedy in South America
– Possibile online functions: Preview puts the game at “Online TBA”
