“You can’t ignore Wii, but it’s bewildering watching what other publishers are doing. Codemasters has taken a more cautious strategy on Wii which has been the right thing to do. We are not going to make cheap, crappy ports. DIRT on Wii, for instance, is not Mario Kart. Overlord 2 is a gamer’s game. We’re not planning to compete in this ‘big head sports arena’ that everyone is obsessed with – the shelves are cluttered with those games. What you’ll see from us is quality games for gamers built for the Wii.” – VP Alex Bertie

It’s good to see than more developers such as Codemasters are taking the Wii more seriously. I think most Wii owners have had enough with cheap and crappy ports.

ATLUS SPOILS KNIGHTS IN THE NIGHTMARETM FOR NINTENDO DSTM, SOUNDTRACK WITH EVERY LAUNCH COPY, PRE-ORDER BONUS ART BOOK AT PARTICIPATING RETAILERS

It’s starting to look like anything but a nightmare

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA – MARCH 3, 2009 – Atlus U.S.A. today announced that the manager of its Atlus Spoils problem, Charlie the chimpanzee, has gotten out of control. For Knights in the Nightmare™ on Nintendo DS™, the simian has packaged not only a soundtrack CD within each and every premium boxed launch copy, but also decided to include a 7″x10″ full color pre-order bonus art book as well (at participating retailers).

“In hindsight, hiring a non-human for this position may have been a mistake,” said Aram Jabbari, manager of PR and Sales at Atlus. “We appreciate his zeal for the work, and he certainly livens up company parties, but to offer not only a soundtrack CD in a premium package, but a pre-order bonus art book also? He’s taking this Atlus Spoils thing too far. We’d get rid of him, but he has consistently threatened us with lawsuits and handfuls of excrement, making it an uncomfortable prospect.”

“I always advise people to buy early. One of the things that people don’t seem to understand is that factories are producing constantly; they don’t peak and trough. So we’re producing product all the time, but then everyone wants it all at the one end of the year. It’s just so hard to try and keep up.” – Nintendo UK exec David Yarnton

Nintendo products always seem to fly off store shelves, especially around the holiday season. I’m actually a bit worried about purchasing one at launch – The system already seems to be at a relatively high demand.

“Get your friends together and grab your Wii Wheel (TM) accessories for action-packed raucous racing. ExciteBots: Trick Racing takes the big-air thrills and simple controls of Excite Truck (TM) and ramps up the fun with a non-stop barrage of funky challenges and mini-games performed at blinding speed. You won’t believe your eyes when you find yourself shooting goals, throwing pies and even playing poker in the middle of racing robotic animals and insects around off-road tracks.” – Retail description

I’m really not sold on the minigames aspect of Excitebots. Aren’t there enough games on Wii that feature minigames?!

“If Little King’s Story turns out to be a big hit and if I can get everyone together again then maybe we will consider it. At the moment I can’t say whether we will or not because we are concentrating on getting this one finished. I can say that we have never considered making a series out of Little King’s Story, we only thought about getting together and making a good game. Let’s wait and see.” – Harvest Moon creator Yasuhiro Wada

I’ve really liked what I have been able to see thus far of Little King’s Story. If the first game is successful, I see no reason as to why a sequel couldn’t be created.
