Retailers such as Best Buy and Amazon began to modify the release date of Deadly Creatures a couple of days ago, which hinted that the game would be delayed. Deadly Creatures was scheduled to ship in December this year, but this is officially no longer the case. The title, like the retailers suggested, should be releasing in February now according to THQ.

Deadly Creatures also suffered from a previous delay, as the game initially was going to be available in October. On the bright side, the extra months before release will definitely allow the development team to add some extra polish to the game.

In March of this year, Nintendo attempted to trademark the term “Wii Remote.” Since then, the latest news is that Nintendo’s application is currently suspended, as the word “remote” is too general to warrant a trademark. The United States Patent and Trademark Office hasn’t completely denied all chances of allowing the company to trademark “Wii Remote,” though more work would be necessary for success. One would assume that Nintendo would attempt to trademark Wiimote or something similar, but the company was recently entangled with an issue from Fobis Technologies stemming from the word “Weemote.”

Shigeru Miyamoto is an extremely influential figure over at Nintendo headquarters, so it isn’t surprising that people listen in on what the man has to say. Most recently, Miyamoto was asked if Wii Music is the last game in the Wii-line of titles. He responded by noting, “Yes, it is true that the existing Wii games, including Wii Music, were on the top priority list, but there is some other software, of course, but I cannot talk about it!”

Miyamoto also responded to the challenge of coming up with universal themes (following sports, music, fitness)…

“Well, yes, it is challenging to find something universal but, after all, that’s my job as I see it. Until the time that I am in a position to tell you the next subject, we can only confirm that we are working on the next Mario and the next Zelda, etc. In terms of new games, we need to stand with the potential customer’s viewpoint. Of course, we have new ideas in mind all the time, but the challenging part is whether they will really be widely appreciated by users.”
