Alan Wake Remastered update

Remedy released a new update for the Switch version of Alan Wake Remastered, and it’s out now to those who previously purchased the title. The game should now be at version 1.0.1.

There aren’t any patch notes to share as the update is pretty straightforward. According to an official tweet, it “improves overall framerate and performance, especially when the game is played in docked mode.”

Alan Wake Remastered Switch vs Xbox One comparison

A graphics comparison video has come in for the new Switch version of Alan Wake Remastered, showing how the game stacks up to its Xbox One counterpart.

There are all sorts of changes that are apparent here, but the easiest aspects to discuss concerns frame rate and resolution. On Switch, a big talking point over the past week has revolved around drops in FPS. Alan Wake Remastered isn’t perfectly stable on Xbox One either, but Nintendo’s console seems to have some consistent dips that brings the action down to 20 FPS. It remains to be seen whether a patch will be offered in the future to improve performance.

Alan Wake Remastered was known to be coming to Switch, but we didn’t have an exact release date. Interestingly enough, the game has just dropped.

In case you missed the original announcement, here’s a refresher on the game:

Alan Wake Remastered is coming to Switch, Remedy Entertainment has announced. It will be available this fall.

A Switch version was first rumored after a rating surfaced late last year. A second classification was discovered about a month later.

Alan Wake Remastered has been rated for Switch once again – this time by the ESRB.

The title previously received a classification in Brazil last month, and Nintendo’s console was among the listed platforms. Some had thought that Epic Games Publishing and Remedy Entertainment were holding on to an announcement for the most recent Nintendo Direct, but that didn’t happen in the end as the presentation came and went without any news. There was always the possibility that the rating from Brazil was a mistake. However, the fact that a second classification has now emerged makes that seem less likely.

Alan Wake Remastered Switch

Could Alan Wake Remastered have a shot at landing on Switch? The Brazil Advisory Rating Board at least has reason for thinking so. Alan Wake Remastered was added to the official classification database earlier today, and Switch is among the listed platforms.

Alan Wake Remastered is a redone version of the well-received Xbox 360 game from 2010. Epic Games Publishing announced the new version earlier this month, though there was no word on a Switch version at the time. It’s unclear if news for Nintendo’s console will be coming later or if today’s rating is an error.
