Etsunobu Ebisu

Yoshi's Crafted World

Yoshi’s Crafted World is noteworthy due to the tech behind it. Rather than using something like an internal Nintendo engine, the game was built with Unreal Engine 4.

Good Feel executive VP Etsunobu Ebisu spoke with IGN about the decision to create Yoshi’s Crafted World in that environment. Ebisu explained that “Unreal Engine made it easy to make adjustments to the visuals, and allowed us to produce textures we were satisfied with.”

Kirby’s ability to inhale enemies is a staple of the series. In Kirby’s Epic Yarn, however, this isn’t possible. Now that the game has returned on 3DS, producer Etsunobu Ebisu has revisited the subject.

Ebisu told Kotaku the following in a new interview when asked why Kirby’s signature move is missing:

Now that Yoshi’s Woolly World has arrived in Europe, Nintendo Life was able to quiz a couple of the game’s developers on a few different subjects. Nintendo producer Takashi Tezuka and Good-Feel executive producer Etsunobu Ebisu discussed topics such as the Yarn Yoshi amiibo and amiibo functionality in the game itself, why the team decided to revisit the yarn style (they even have additional ideas!), and more.
