Goodbye Galaxy Games

In a recent interview with Nintendo Life, Goodbye Galaxy Games talked about the biggest enhancements coming to Tappingo 2:

Zoom mode is probably the biggest new feature. People thought the tiles on the big grid were too small. So being able to zoom in is a really nice feature to have.

Other than that there are many little ones, like for example if you look at the screenshot you can see all lines now have outlines. This makes a individual line better visible in a group of the same colour and also stand out a bit more against the background colour.

I also put in double tapping to retract a line, so players wonโ€™t accidentally retract a line causing a chain reaction.

Danny and me also worked really hard on the user interface, made it more dynamic and animated. And just lots and lots of other little things!

Goodbye Galaxy Games is working on a sequel to Tappingo – aptly titled Tappingo 2.

Tappingo 2 will include over 100 new puzzles and new elements such as a zoom mode for larger puzzles. Goodbye Galaxy Games has been monitoring player feedback for the first game and will in turn improve “many things”.

Tappingo 2 will launch this summer. Additional details, screenshots, and videos will be released in the coming weeks.

Goodbye Galaxy Games is working on a new “rapid prototype game creation tool for Nintendo 3DS” known as “Gomba”. The software provides game-makers with a game engine, level editor, simulator and C-like scripting language and debugger. According to creator Hugo Smits, “Non-programmers can probably create a simple game in just a hour.”

Smits is currently building Gomba for Windows. He hopes to turn it into an online tool, which may end up being created in Flash. A beta could arrive as soon as this summer.

You can find many more details about Gomba in Smits’ blog post here.

DLC is currently unlikely for Tappingo. That’s according to creator Hugo Smits, who said on Twitter today that nothing is planned as of now.

Smits’ tweet is as follows:

Smits also wrote on Twitter that a sequel could begin development “right away” assuming “sales are good.” A new game would incorporate feedback received and possibly a QR code puzzle option.
