The file size of Moon Chronicles’ first episode weighs in at about 180MB, according to Renegade Kid.
Co-founder Jools Watsham wrote on Twitter:
The Moon Chronicles ROM is currently about 180MB. That's not too big, is it?
— Jools Watsham (@JoolsWatsham) March 5, 2014
Watsham also said the final version going on up the eShop won’t be heavily compressed. Cut-scenes will feature minimal compression and max bandwidth.
@Vactro I agree. Don't worry, we're not compressing like crazy. The cut-scene videos have minimal compression and use maximum bandwidth. 🙂

Renegade Kid rewrote its engine for 3DS, doing so again for Moon Chronicles
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, 3DS eShop, News | 1 Comment
With the 3DS celebrating its third birthday in Japan yesterday, Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham shared several tweets about the studio’s history with the portable earlier today.
One of the more notable tidbits of information concerns Renegade Kid’s engine. For some of the company’s earlier games – Face Racers: Photo Finish and ATV Wild Ride 3D – the company rewrote the tech. Renegade Kid is now doing the same thing for Moon Chronicles to ensure that it runs at 60 FPS with 3D enabled.
We had to re-write our "Renegade Engine" (Dementium, Moon, ATV) from scratch to work on the 3DS for Face Racers and ATV 3D.

In other news, Watsham reconfirmed that the 2D version of Mutant Mudds (the game we know of today) was originally planned for Xbox Live. The studio’s “focus quickly shifted to the Nintendo eShop” after the 3DS was announced.

Renegade Kid explains decision to remake Moon before introducing a sequel
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, News | 1 Comment
Moon Chronicles is an interesting project for Renegade Kid. The game’s first season will be a remake of the original DS game, while season two will offer a new experience entirely.
Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham explained on Twitter earlier today why the team decided to remake the original Moon before moving on to the actual sequel. He said:
@GoldMetalSonic The original DS game had a fairly limited release. But, it was received very well. Seems a shame to deprive new players. 🙂

We knew it was coming, but Renegade Kid has officially regained the publishing rights to Moon.
Studio co-founder Jools Watsham wrote on Twitter just a few minutes ago:
Today, all publishing rights for Moon are 100% officially Renegade Kid's. Feels good! 🙂

Moon was one of the earliest titles produced by Renegade Kid. Mastiff published the game in North America, but the company’s agreement only lasted five years. Moon came out in 2009, so Renegade Kid now controls the IP’s rights.
