Lichtspeer: Double Speer Edition

A new update for Lichtspeer: Double Speer Edition has gone live. Players who purchased and download the game can access version 1.0.2.

Crunching Koalas says that the update improves Joy-Con management and makes small co-op difficulty tweaks. Additionally, a few minor fixes have been implemented.

Lichtspeer hinges on its own awareness of the nonsensical retro-techno Norse premise that it strikes the player with. “Achtung” it explains in a preface, “nothing you are about to see will make any sense.” This ancient Germanic spear-throwing game from a future perpendicular dimension is a load of nonsense – but it was intriguing. Just enough so to uncover a tight and surprisingly demanding score attack game.

This week is turning out to be very packed for Switch eShop games. And it looks like we can add another title dropping on Thursday, in Europe at least. The Switch eShop is listing Butcher from Crunching Koalas on September 28.

We first found out about Butcher when Lichtspeer: Double Speer Edition’s eShop listing appeared. Crunching Koalas published that one as well. As for Butcher, it’s a “fast-paced 2D shooter and a blood-soaked love letter to the cult classics of the genre.”

Here’s a trailer for Butcher:

We first found out about Lichtspeer: Double Speer Edition via a European eShop listing. Today, Crunching Croalas officially announced the game, and has revealed that it’s due out very soon.

Lichtspeer: Double Speer Edition is “a laser fueled action game infused with an exquisite cosmic soundtrack”. The Switch version features a new save system, big tweaks to the original difficulty level, and a new co-op mode in which “man and dog fight hand-in-paw against a horde of beasts from another dimension.”

Crunching Koalas has two new games lined up for Switch. The studio will be bringing Lichtspeer: Double Speer Edition and Butcher to Nintendo’s console at some point in the future.

Lichtspeer describes itself as “an unforgiving fast-paced lightspear-throwing simulator set in an ancient germanic future.” On Switch, a new and exclusive co-op mode has been added in.

Butcher was previously released on other platforms, similar to Lichtspeer. The tough 2D shooter has players taking on enemies and defeating them in all sorts of ways.
