Note that when attempting to start up the tracks, you may receive a message stating that players can race in the new cups by purchasing the Booster Course Pass or signing up for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. This notice is expected to go away shortly and the content should be available for everyone soon.

The following tracks can be accessed now with the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe version 2.0.0 update:

Based on a newly-released screenshot from Nintendo, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe seems to have made a small graphical improvement to its Booster Pass DLC since the initial reveal.

GameXplain picked up on the change, noting how in Coconut Mall, the color palette has been updated with a warmer look. This is especially noticeable when examining the main building on the track. You can probably see it with the Coconut Mall sign and more realistic window reflections. Something that has been added is a Mario Kart TV van on the left while some characters have been moved or resized.

Here’s a comparison image for the new and old versions of Coconut Mall from the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Pass DLC:

mario kart 8 50 million

The Mario Kart 8 success story continues, as Nintendo’s racer has reached another milestone. Based on the latest sales data the company issued this week, it has now crossed 50 million copies sold.

That number accounts for sales of Mario Kart 8 on both Switch and Wii U. On Switch specifically, the game has sold 43.35 million units – and it’s the best-selling title on the console ahead of Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ 37.62 million. As for Wii U, Mario Kart 8 moved another 8.46 million units. The current total is 51.81 million between both platforms.

In the last financial report from Nintendo, we learned that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sales have reached 38.74 million units, surpassing Mario Kart Wii as the best-selling game in the franchise. Being a “deluxe” edition of a Wii U title, I found it surprising how incredibly successful the game is.

There are obvious reasons for those crazy numbers such as the Switch’s success and the overall popularity of Mario Kart. However, in a new video today, I decided to analyze what exactly makes it special on the inside, why the game is so universally approachable, and how it differs from past games in the series. You can check the video down below.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has now outsold Mario Kart Wii, Nintendo has confirmed.

Lifetime sales of Mario Kart Wii are at 37.38 million. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, on the other hand, has sold 38.74 million copies worldwide. That news comes directly from Nintendo’s latest financial results.
