Limited Run Games has revealed the next two additions from its physical Switch collection.

When Yooka-Laylee was funded on Kickstarter, one of the stretch goals met involved was an old-school N64 shader mode. This wasn’t included in the 3D platformer upon its initial launch, but Playtonic will be adding it in soon.

A first look at the shader was posted on Playtonic’s website today. The “demastered” look will be offered through the “64-Bit” tonic.

The 3D platformer Yooka-Laylee is seeing a physical release. In partnership with Team17 and Playtonic, Limited Run Games will be selling copies exclusively through its website. Expect it in August.

Yooka-Laylee celebrated its very first birthday this week. To celebrate, developer Playtonic shared a brief blog post here.

The big takeaways from the post are a couple of interesting teases. Playtonic says the team has been “far too busy working on covert goodness”. We’ll soon be hearing about “extra content for Yooka-Laylee” as well as “other stuff.”

What could “other stuff” be? A new game? Something else? Hopefully we’ll have more news to share soon.

Nintendo Life put a video together showing how the new Switch version of Yooka-Laylee stacks up to the Xbox One edition. Check out the comparison below.

Update (12/7): The pre-load option is now live in North America. Final US pricing is $39.99.

Original (12/6): Yooka-Laylee can now be pre-loaded on the European Switch eShop. In doing so, players can get ready for launch by purchasing the game ahead of time and downloading most of the required data.

You should be able to pre-load Yooka-Laylee in North America tomorrow as well. We expect it’ll be up around 12 PM ET / 9 AM PT, when the eShop normally updates.

Yooka-Laylee will finally end up on Switch next week. And over in Europe, the game’s price point has been confirmed. The 3D platformer will cost €39.99 / £34.99, which should be $39.99.

Yooka-Laylee currently goes for the same amount on other digital marketplaces. The only tricky thing here is that physical copies on the likes of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One cost much less. As we know though, Yooka-Laylee has no physical version on Switch – at least for now.

Playtonic finally delivered the news Switch fans had been waiting for regarding Yooka-Laylee. After a fairly lengthy wait, the 3D platformer is confirmed for December 14 as an eShop download.

Nintendo Life spoke with Playtonic Games’ creative lead and managing director Gavin Price following the news. Price talked about the original reception, how Yooka-Laylee’s visuals on Switch stack up to other versions, and a possible physical release.
