Renegade Kid starts work on “new experimental 2D game for 3DS”

In the wake of its unsuccessful Kickstarter for Cult County, Renegade Kid has moved on to begin work on “a new experimental 2D game for 3DS.”
Studio co-founder Jools Watsham tweeted the news, but didn’t offer any additional nuggets. He did confirm, however, that Kickstarter won’t be involved with this new project.
Watsham said:
As part of our healing process after the KS failure, we're developing a new experimental 2D game for 3DS. It has pixels and stuff. No cults.

@EdEN_Zr When it is ready to show, I will be happy to talk about it for sure.

Renegade Kid’s Kickstarter for Cult County ended today, and the campaign was, sadly, unsuccessful. Only $46,736 was raised out of the $580,000 total.
So what’s next? Renegade Kid co-founder said on Twitter that the studio will now look towards “other options.”
Watsham wrote on Twitter:
Cult County kickstarter has ended. 1492 wonderful backers pledged $46,736. Thank you! We did not reach goal. Now discussing other options.

Cult County back on for 3DS
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, News | 9 Comments
After initially pulling the plug on the 3DS version, Renegade Kid now hopes to bring its survival horror title to Nintendo’s portable once again. If the game’s Kickstarter meets its minimum funded goal of $580,000, backers will be able to choose the 3DS version as their platform of choice for download codes.
Cult County does have a ways to go before it reaches its Kickstarter target. The campaign has just 16 days to raise well over $500,000.

Renegade Kid will explore all control schemes for Cult County on Wii U
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
It goes without saying that Cult County will make use of the GamePad. Renegade Kid also has plans to support a Wiimote / nunchuck option.
That’s not all though. Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham said in a Reddit AMA that the team will explore all control methods on Wii U, “and if they feel good we’ll include them.”

Renegade Kid says Cult County “will be treated as a lead SKU” on Wii U

Have no fear about the Wii U version of Cult County. Even though Renegade Kid is developing the game for a bunch of platforms, Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham says that it “will be treated as a lead SKU” on Wii U.
Watsham wrote on Twitter:
.@allan_paxton The Wii U version of Cult County will be treated as a lead SKU, with love, care, and respect.
— Jools Watsham (@JoolsWatsham) April 3, 2014
.@JerBer1218 @allan_paxton No, I am not saying the Wii U is THE lead. Just saying we'll treat each platform with respect.

Cult County will still be made if Kickstarter goal isn’t reached
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 1 Comment
Renegade Kid has set a rather high funding goal for Cult County on Kickstarter. In order to secure all donations, the studio will need to raise $580,000.
That kind of high target raises an important question: what will happen to Cult County if the campaign doesn’t reach its goal? Fortunately, Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham confirmed to Polygon that it will still be made, but development would take much longer.
Watsham said:
“We will make Cult County regardless of what happens with the Kickstarter campaign,” Watsham said. “It will take a lot longer for us to complete Cult County if the minimum goal is not reached, though.”
