There was a report earlier this year that Spike Chunsoft was looking for a partner to bring Attack on Titan: The Last Wings of Mankind to the west. ShonenGameZ writes that Bandai Namco was actually pitched this very idea, but the deal was ultimately dropped. What happened between the two sides is unknown.

ShonenGameZ spoke with Bandai Namco about Project X Zone’s overseas sales as well. The site reports, “they told me that it sold ten times better than what they expected.” Bandai Namco also said they would love to see a sequel.

Yacht Club Games is pleased with Shovel Knight’s sales performance thus far. The game has only been out for about a month, but the studio’s Sean Velasco told Game Informer:

Velasco: I’d say it’s doing very well. We are very pleased with where it’s at, even this early in the sales time.

Yacht Club’s Nick Wozniak also commented on Shovel Knight’s sales, stating: “Across all platforms it’s exceeding expectations.”

SEGA is putting most of its efforts into the 3DS this financial year. The company has 13 SKUs planned for the system (which could include limited editions and download games) and estimates that they’ll sell a combined 2.27 million units.

Wii U, on the other hand, isn’t expected to move as many games. SEGA forecasts that the console will be the seventh biggest contributor for SEGA this year with 600,000 sales across 4 SKUs. Wii U falls behind all other mainstream gaming platforms aside from the Xbox One.

Yoshi’s New World sold 58,285 copies in its first week, based on data from Media Create. The game also sold through 57.59 percent of its initial shipment.

The last mainline Yoshi game, Yoshi’s Island DS, moved 303,114 copies at launch with a sell-through rate of 84.82 percent. There’s definitely a big difference between the two, though there are important factors to consider.

Perhaps biggest of all is that Yoshi’s New Island is included in Nintendo’s “Monthly Recommended Software Campaign”. New 3DS owners are able to download one game for free (or choose from other titles) through the end of August.

Media Create reports that Yoshi’s Island DS sold to younger and older Mario fans. Yoshi’s New Island, however, was mainly purchased by a younger audience.

Yoshi’s New Island could end up selling quite a bit more down the line. Yoshi’s Island DS eventually went on to move one million copies in Japan, so something similar could happen with the new 3DS title.

SEGA reported its first quarter financial results earlier today, which unfortunately have brought about some disappointing news.

For the period ending June 30, SEGA’s profits dropped by 57.4 percent. While revenue rose slightly year-over-year to ¥88.3 billion ($858 million), net profits dipped to ¥5.5 billion. Half-year losses are estimated to come in at ¥7 billion ($68 million).

Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth was the only title released this quarter. It did quite well having sold 250,000 copies in Japan. Another 1.7 million game units originated from older titles.

SEGA’s arcade business primarily drove revenue for the company. Pachinko and Pachislot drove ¥47.5 billion ($461 million) in revenue and an operating profit of ¥13 billion ($126 million).

Capcom sales are down for the quarter ending June 30, 2014. In its financial report published today, the company noted that net sales dipped to 9.57 billion yen ($93 million, £55.1 million). That’s a decrease of 45.1 percent from the previous year.

Net income also dropped from 828 million yen ($8 million, £4.7 million) the previous year to 765 million yen ($7.4 million, £4.4 million).

Why the downturn? Capcom believes the decrease in sales can be attributed to “a lack of new major titles.”

Fortunately, today’s news isn’t entirely disappointing for Capcom. Operating income actually rose by 75.3 percent year-over-year for an increase of 1.26 billion yen ($12.2 million, £7.2 million). Monster Hunter Frontier GG also “performed steadily with major update.”

Capcom says the company is “on track to achieve full-year forecasts with improving profitability” with a desire to improve earnings by “reducing the cost of sales.”
