Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Nintendo has shared new details about its plans for the Super Smash Bros. Invitational, which will be hosted at this year’s E3.

The company will be inviting 3,000 people to watch the tournament in-person. Additionally, the entire event will be live-streamed on Twitch’s E3 channel and Nintendo’s Twitch channel.

Those who dress up as their favorite Super Smash Bros. characters could be selected for priority seating in front of the stage. Since the tournament will be photographed and filmed, the best costumes may appear on Twitch and Nintendo’s YouTube channel.

Here’s the full breakdown of information regarding Super Smash Bros. Invitational – set for Tuesday, June 10th:

9:30 a.m.: Wristband distribution begins at NOKIA Plaza at L.A. LIVE, 777 Chick Hearn Court in Los Angeles. A wristband is required for entry, and 3,000 wristbands are available to Nintendo fans on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. Fans are requested to not line up prior to Tuesday morning. Once a wristband is obtained, fans can leave the plaza area and then return later that day, closer to the start of the event. The order that wristbands are obtained in the morning does not impact the order of entry into the venue in the afternoon.

Another double today! Today we see the return of the Dragoon item from Kirby’s Air Ride. Sakurai explains:

Uniting three parts will complete the legendary Air Ride machine…the Dragoon! It’s back! But we didn’t just leave it the way it was, and added some nice touches to the design of the targeting screen. It is, of course, in stereoscopic 3D on the 3DS.

There was also a picture of the Dragoon itself:

Just the target screen felt lacking so here’s a pic of the Dragoon itself. I wanna get on it. I wanna get on and ride it.

A pair of screenshots today. Sakurai explains:

Bullet Bill here is an item. Can you guess what happens when you use it?

You turn into Bullet Bill and go full speed ahead!

In addition to today’s screenshots, Sakurai passed along the following message on Miiverse:

We didn’t introduce ALL of the Assist Trophies in the Smash Bros. Direct. Here’s Dillon from Dillon’s Rolling Western!! He may rival Sonic in the art of rolling.

This is his trophy. He may be an animal, and his buckles are definitely on the adorable side, but there’s no denying he looks cool!! His Assist Trophy can even do things like a quick charge.

Today’s screenshot details a new item, the Super Leaf. Sakurai explains:

With the Super Leaf, any fighter can have ears and a tail. You can also float in the air by pressing the jump button. We’re still figuring out whether you’ll be able to attack with the tail…

Today’s screenshot gives us a look at tether recovery! Sakurai had the following to say alongside the picture:

Tether recovery? Yes, you can! And from even longer range than before. Multiple fighters can latch on–who actually grabs hold is determined by the same rules as the standard ledge grab.

Along with today’s screenshot, Sakurai passed along the following message on Miiverse:

MegaMan.EXE! X! Mega Man! Mega Man Star Force! Mega Man Volnutt! The Mega Man legends, united.

Along with today’s screenshot, Sakurai passed along the following message on Miiverse:

Yoshi’s Egg Throw now leaves a rainbow trail, and we’ve improved the pose Samus strikes when she fires the Paralyzer. Every staff member is working hard as we brush up whatever we can.

Along with today’s screenshot, Sakurai passed along the following message on Miiverse:

For the first time in the Smash series, Beam Swords will feature graduated colors. The attack item on the left is the Fire Bar. This is a peculiar weapon that becomes shorter after each swing.
