deadcraft trailer

XSEED and Marvelous have readied a new trailer for Deadcraft. The Switch title, a zombie survive-action game, arrived just this week on the eShop.

More information about Deadcraft is available in the following overview:

Rune Factory 5 has reached a new sales milestone only a couple months after its English release. The game has topped 500,000 sales worldwide counting both digital and physical units.

What’s important to note about this milestone is that these numbers are from March 31, 2022 (the end of Q1 sales period), and the English version of Rune Factory 5 released on March 22, 2021 in North America and March 25, 2022 in Europe. So, the sales attributed to the localized version are from only 9 days of being on the market.

That being the case, it is very likely this sales number will increase, and the game will reach a new milestone in a short amount of time. The last solid numbers from Japan showed 127,968 units being sold physically in that region, so it’s possible that a lot of purchases were made for the western version in its short market time.

Only time will tell, but for now the game reaching 500,000 units sold with only a year on the market is a big win for the franchise. The game is exclusive to the Switch as well, so these sales all coming from one platform show an impressive amount of support for the game. Hopefully, an update on these sales numbers will be released down the line.

rune factory 5 english localization interview

Rune Factory 5 has technically been around for a year, but only in Japan. But just this week, the game made its debut in North America and Europe thanks to the localization efforts of XSEED.

John Wheeler, Lori Snyder, and Katherine Sargent are some of the key people behind Rune Factory 5’s English version as they contributed to the project as the localization manager, assistant localization manager, and localization editor respectively. Recently, we were able to catch up with them to talk more about their work. You can read our full discussion below for insight into the localization of Rune Factory 5.

Nintendo Everything recently had the opportunity to speak with Shiro Maekawa, the director of Rune Factory 5. We discussed a variety of topics including the lengthy wait since the series’ previous entry, the inclusion of same-sex relationships, and more. Maekawa also expressed interest in remakes / remasters of previous titles and indicated that it won’t be another ten years for a new Rune Factory game.

rune factory 5 review

System: Switch
Release date: March 22, 2022
Developer: Hakama
Publisher: XSEED Games / Marvelous

The producer of the Rune Factory franchise, Yoshifumi Hashimoto, once summarized the games as “Harvest Moon where you wield a sword.” And while that’s technically true, it’s a bit reductive; not content in being merely another set of farming-focused slice of life experiences, the Rune Factory games lean deeper into the “role-playing” aspects of their fantasy settings, giving you more room to explore, fight, craft and shape your experience to your liking then Harvest Moon ever has. Rune Factory 5 is the first 3D entry in the franchise since 2011’s Tides of Destiny, and thus feels primed to capture the attention of more new fans than ever before. While this new entry may lack the overall polish in its mechanics and presentation that it deserves, Rune Factory 5 is still an overall rewarding experience full of charm that I thoroughly enjoyed.

XSEED and Marvelous have shared some new footage of Rune Factory 5 highlighting some of the activities you can engage in with the bachelors and bachelorettes of the game. Have a look at the video after the break.
