E3 2011 – What do you want to see from Nintendo?
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Features | 0 comments
E3 is so, so close. We’re just a few days before Nintendo spills their guts about their brand new console and many other games that fans will be looking forward to. It’s such a strange feeling that their conference is almost here, since, to me at least, it feels like E3 2010 just ended! Perhaps I’m still on a high after the impressive showing Nintendo had last year.
E3 2011 is comparable to last year’s event for many reasons. In particular, we know that Zelda: Skyward Sword will once again be prominently featured. Also just like 2010, we know of a bunch of titles that will be at the show: Ocarina of Time 3D, Star Fox 64 3D, Kid Icarus: Uprising, and Super Mario 3D, just to name a few. Arguably, those titles alone would be enough to say that Nintendo had a successful E3.
Yet that’s just the tip of the iceberg. If you’re a gamer, chances are that you have at least some interest in Project Cafe. Not everyone will be planning on purchasing it day one. But surely it piques one’s curiosity at least somewhat. After all, new hardware always receives attention.
3DS/Wii release lists – Super Mario Wii 2?

For the most part, I don’t put too much stock into release lists. You guys probably shouldn’t either, since it may just lead to disappointment! But I do admit that it is interesting to see Super Mario Wii 2 on there…
E3 2011 – First photos of… Nintendo boxes?!

Update: Added a couple of photos.
You know we’re desperate for Nintendo’s E3 2011 briefing to begin when we start posting boxes. But yes, someone has come across cases and boxes for Nintendo, which I assume houses all sorts of goodies. Might Project Cafe consoles be inside one of those boxes?

Capcom talks status of Mega Man Legends 3
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 0 comments
This information comes from Capcom’s Christian Svensson…
“It’s still not [greenlit]. It’s green lit for prototype, it has not been green lit for production. The distinction is an important one in that the prototype green light allows the team to spec out what they’re going to build and put together a prototype, a playable version of the game to show internally. In this case we’re sharing the prototype publicly with everyone to collect feedback to then go back into the production cycle. Production would imply more headcount put against it and the other part is the full plan for what are we building the final product.
Part of that was supposed to be a collaborative effort between the development room and the fans in a very public, transparent display of what goes on behind the scenes. Part of that transparency is, and making clear to fans, is that we’re not in production. The pins and needles feeling that the team has every day of, “Is this game ever going to come out?” is in some ways shared by the fans who’ve put their blood, sweat, and tears into this thing, too. It’s an ambitious experiment in many ways and that community outreach and transparency is something I’ve been pushing more and more for years. When the team came forward with the approach they wanted to take with this title, I was extremely supportive of providing that level of visibility and input. It’s listening to the market in ways that a lot of Japanese developers don’t do.
The challenge with this of course is that you’re opening the kimono very early on and sharing details on a game we hope comes to market. All of our games start this way. It’s rare when something enters production that it doesn’t come out at that point.”
Man, could you imagine if Mega Man Legends 3 never made it to retail? What is we only received the Prototype Version? I think a lot of fans would be incredibly upset if that happened…
Rumor: Third-parties making big Project Cafe announcements on Tuesday
Posted on 13 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Wii U | 0 comments
Over the past few months, there have been many rumors about third-parties producing content for Project Cafe. For instance, some outlets have claimed that Rockstar has been working on Grand Theft Auto V for Nintendo’s next console. Although that specific rumor is questionable, it is possible that we’ll be seeing some significant announcements from third-parties on Tuesday.
GameTrailers Editor in Chief Shane Satterfield has apparently heard that “there is going to be some big third-party announcements for Nintendo’s new console at the show”. That was said on the latest episode of the site’s Invisible Walls show. It sounded like he was going to elaborate on his comment, but Michael Pachter interrupted him. So, unfortunately, that was all that was said about third-parties and Project Cafe.
“I have kind of heard some things through the grapevine there is going to be some big third-party announcements for Nintendo’s new console at the show, there’s no doubt about that.”
Super Smash Bros. Brawl hack allows Conan O’Brien to appear in the game

The Super Smash Bros. Brawl community has done something amazing. With a simple hack, they’ve brought late-night talk show Conan O’Brien into the game. It appears that he’s taken over Snake’s body and moveset, but still, it’s pretty darn amusing.
