This information comes from NOA’s vice president of corporate affairs, Denise Kaigler, who addressed the announcement of the Wii price drop and the lack of a Wii Sports Resort/MotionPlus bundle…

“Well, we never said that it would never happen. And the timing makes sense. What better time to give consumers this gift package right before the official start of the holiday season? With the upcoming launch of Wii Fit Plus on October 2 and the November 15 launch of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, it’s a great time to do this — to make gaming accessible to everyone. That really is part of our mission. We are definitely on a journey and this is a never-ending, exciting journey to expand the market and to make videogames accessible to everyone. There are 50 million U.S. consumers sitting on the sidelines, looking for a reason to be part of all the fun, and we do believe that reducing the price of the world’s most popular videogame home console will be that trigger for many of those consumers. The timing was done in such a way that it happens just before we launch these highly anticipated titles.”

“There was a decision that was made to keep the configuration as is. Wii Sports Resort is doing well — we certainly have found that consumers love it. But the decision was made for many reasons to maintain the current configuration of the package.”

ENJOY HOURS OF MESMERISING TILE MATCHING FUN AND BUILD THE SEVEN WONDERS OF THE FORGOTTEN WORLD IN 7 WONDERS II

Avanquest Software Publishing, a leading consumer software and games publisher, is soon to release 7 Wonders II, the addictive puzzle adventure game, on Nintendo DS. Adding to Avanquest’s portfolio of successful casual games, such as Mystery Stories and Jewel Quest Solitaire, 7 Wonders II offers Match 3 gameplay, one of the most popular game genres today that requires players to match or swap items into groups of 3 or more for fast and fun puzzle gaming.

Casual gamers and fans of the original PC version can now experience the new look and feel of 7 Wonders II on the handheld format. Each level features a playing field covered in up to seven different types of ancient symbols, representing The Seven Wonders of the Forgotten World. Set against a backdrop of forgotten cities, hidden treasure and ancient relics, players must use the stylus to drag the coloured tiles across the game board and make matching sets before the time runs out.

Update: Bumping this to the front page because the European date is in as well – It’ll be releasing on November 20.

Nintendo can be quite sneaky sometimes. The Shantae DSiWare news was hidden in a press release of upcoming Wii/WiiWare/DS/DSiWare titles. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Big N has taken a similar approach with sharing the release date for New Super Mario Bros. Wii. In the official Wii price drop announcement, Nintendo listed when the game will launch – November 15. We’re still waiting for a European date, but its rumored to come out on November 27.
