Another update regarding Mistwalker’s new game

A few days ago, Mistwalker founder Hironobu Sakaguchi provided an update on his blog regarding the company’s newest project. Initially, there were plans to unveil the game this year, but Sakaguchi apologized and instead said that an announcement will be made sometime in 2010 instead. It’s now officially the first day of the new year in Japan and the blog has once again been refreshed with a short post. Sakaguchi noted that he is putting a lot of effort into the game and is trying to make it “the best project.”
“Happy New Year.
2010 is the year of my long-awaited new blockbuster project.
I’m putting my heart and soul into this production. I’m taking a full swing and making this the best project.
Oh, by the way, We are also working on a project for iPhone.
This should be released soon as well.
We will put our efforts together and do our best!
I’m sure you’ll Love it.”

A note about coverage today
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Site updates | 3 Comments
You guys have probably noticed that, over the last few days, there’s been almost a drought in news. A number of people have been on vacation since Christmas and the usual round of news starts to drop off around December in general. Things have pretty much come to a halt today, as tonight is New Year’s Eve. I’ll post any Nintendo news I come across that I find significant, but please be aware that there might not be a whole lot of content to share. However, in the next day or so, things should pick up once again.
Other than that make sure you check out Jason’s New Super Mario Bros. Wii review and have a happy New Year!

Naughty Dog praises the Wii
Posted on 15 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 8 Comments
Naughty Dog has worked on some pretty significant franchises such like Crash Bandicoot, Jak & Daxter, and most recently, Uncharted. While the company has been busy with the PlayStation 3 in recent years, the company will not be developing a Wii title anytime soon, as they are a subsidiary of Sony.
With that said, Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells appreciates the system. In an interview, Wells was asked if Naughty Dog has been considering motion control for the future. In his response, Wells discussed some of his feelings regarding the Wii and complemented some of its software.
“I think right for the genre that we’re in? We really don’t have any interest in using the motion control to do a third-person action game. If we were going to make a motion controller game, I think we’d want to tackle it from the bottom up and make sure that we were designing the game around the motion control, the way the best Wii games are designed. I’m not a Wii hater at all, in fact, it’s probably one of my most played consoles in the house. I have a 3-year old son which might account for some of that [laughs], but I think Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort are some of the best experiences of this generation, honestly. They’re immensely playable and competitive, and just great fun with a group of people in the same room. Yeah, I think the PlayStation audience is totally for it, in fact, I bet you there are lot of closet Wii owners in the PlayStation community. If there is some really good software for that motion controller, I think it can be a big, big success.”

Nintendo and Shigeru Miyamoto return Mario back to the realm of 2-D once again for New Super Mario Bros. Wii. This time up to four players can join in on the platforming goodness that originally made the Super Mario Bros. franchise such a smash sensation all those years ago. Unsurprisingly, Princess Peach has been kidnapped by Bowser & Co. and it’s up to you (and three of your closest friends) to once again rescue the princess and set things right in the Mushroom Kingdom.
