Today’s news of former Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi’s passing was recognized across the industry. Rare, Capcom UK, Microsoft’s Major Nelson, and plenty of others shared a few words on Twitter in honor of his memory.

Plenty of comments were made outside of the gaming scene as well. The Seattle Mariners (previously owned by Yamauchi, now owned by Nintendo of America) published a statement, and Zelda Williams (Robin Williams’ daughter, named after Nintendo’s legendary series) left a message on her Twitter account as well.
