Advance Wars 1 2 Re-Boot Camp interview WayForward

A new Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp developer interview gives us insight as to how the partnership between Nintendo and WayForward came to be.

This was a milestone release for a number of reasons. WayForward, best known for its Shantae series, was finally able to work with a Nintendo IP. Advance Wars was also dormant for about 15 years, as Days of Ruin was the last entry having hit the DS in 2008.

A new month just started up a few days ago. Now that we’re in September, we want to know what you’ve been playing.

Zelda Tears of the Dragon Kingdom name

Nintendo has spoken about the name for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and revealed that there was strong consideration for calling it Tears of the Dragon instead.

That tidbit comes from Eiji Aonuma, the game’s producer. Aonuma was speaking about Tears of the Kingdom in the newly-released art book, indicating that the Tears of the Dragon name could cause issues since it would “emphasize the Light Dragon”. Only after another member of the team suggested “Kingdom” that the final title materialized.

Majora's Mask design

Majora’s Mask is one of the more iconic elements of the Zelda series. Now as part of an interview with Gaming Boulevard, we get to hear a bit about how it was created.

Takaya Imamura had a legendary career at Nintendo where he was an artist on many different games and franchises, including Star Fox, F-Zero, and yes, The Legend of Zelda. According to Imamura, Majora’s Mask was about differentiating the game from Ocarina of Time, and the mask itself took some inspiration from Asian tribes.
